Well said, Jan Rynne. I'm so glad you got the opportunity to share your situation publicly and express it so well.
The system in the UK isn't always as easy as you describe, but at least it's what is supposed to happen. I hope the health system in Ireland will soon be able to offer the same treatments, and do it more efficiently than is the case in England right now.
Thanks again for sharing. It was good to hear your voice again. 🙂
Stay safe,
Paula
Thanks Paula
We are aware the system in the UK is not perfect but at least there is some plan.
This discussion in Ireland has not even started.
Its hard to see patients not prioritised.
Hope you and your family are all keeping well?

Michael, it’s very frustrating that the discussion hasn’t even started in Ireland… I guess it’s what you at “CLLIreland” are now working on… So sorry that everything has to be such a battle.
I remember it being the same when ibrutinib was first introduced, and Ireland could still only offer FCR for CLL folk with 17p deletions – even though it wouldn’t work for them. If I remember rightly, you were prompted to start “CLL Ireland” because of that.
Our family are fine, thanks. All the kids and grandkids have had Covid – some worse than others, but are OK now. With just Peter and I at home, it’s much easier to keep safe. So much harder for younger folk like you with kids going to school etc.
Best wishes,
Paula
