Has anyone experienced severe allergies to dander, pet hair and certain foods since CLL diagnosis? If so what steps have helped you deal w/this?

Yes dog dander. I take Zyrtec in the morning and at bed time. I also put Purchased a few air purifiers.

Best wishes

Come to think of it, I have developed a number of (unidentified) allergies starting about 4 or so years before my diagnosis. My diagnosis was “late” as there were clearly signs (elevated blood counts) about 2 years before my official diagnosis.

Since I live in an area with so many potential allergens, I never have chased down what causes them. But ... they have gotten much much worse and continue to do so. For some reason they are worse in cold weather than in warm weather.

It could be dander - as we’ve always had dogs.

Actually Naisy, it was quite the opposite for me in terms of allergies to dander, pet hair, and also dust mites. For years I suffered from these. Within a couple of months of treatment with FR those allergies totally disappeared and have not returned in 24 years. I can pet cats and dogs without my hands swelling and nasal passages closing!

However it's a different story with food allergies. Take a look at my post from 4 years ago. healthunlocked.com/cllsuppo...

I see you've recently joined this group. Have you received treatment for CLL? That could affect your allergy status. It would be helpful if you would include a bit of information about your CLL journey.

It would not be a surprise to see emerging sensitivities in CLL.

When considering this, don't forget House Dust Mite!

I already had an allergy to cats, horses and rabbits and reactions to insect bites. These have grown far worse especially insect bites which don't respond to my antihistamines.

Funny, a couple of cases isn’t much to base a theory on, but my general allergies have also gone crazy the last few months. We actually thought that was the cause of my swollen lymph nodes. Of course it could be confidence, but who knows.
