When I had my second dose of Moderna last March, I had hives from head to toe very bad. Laid in bed for days with ice packs. My oncologist said if they come out with a booster that I shouldn't get it. I did not ask her why. Could it be dangerous for some reason for me to get it or is she just telling me that I may have to go thru having hives again, which I would be willing to endure if it means I will get more protection from getting covid by having the booster. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Did get any antibodies after your first two shots?
If I’d suffered such an extreme reaction which could be an allergic one, I’d be taking the doctor’s advice on this. Must have been really unpleasant for you.I think you do however need a discussion on possible alternatives.

Curious- why didn't you ask your doctor why not? Try J&J- different formula. As if that is ok.
How soon after getting the vaccine did you get the hives? How do they know that the hives came from the vaccine and not something else?
I suppose you got no antibodies from the first vaccines. There is no guarantee the third one would produce any. It could be possible that you go through the hives for nothing.
hives came a few days later. COuldn't have been from anything else
Goodness! The hives experience sounds quite dreadful and I am glad you got through it. It is understandable to want to avoid another episode, if possible. Let us know what you and your doctor decide. The data regarding boosters are coming to the researchers at lightening speed and I can know our doctors are doing their level best to continue to treat patients in these extraordinary times and stay abreast of all the changes. Whew!
I see a brand new Hematologist in early September as my original doctor retired. I tried to be dignified when I saw him for the last time, but secretly wanted to hang on to his ankles and not let go!
Sending support to you and all our healthcare providers. Carolyn
Have you ever thought of getting the third shot from Pfizer?
Supposedly, one should stay with same original injection….but info appears very murky as to absolute info!
My husband had a sever reaction to his second Moderna and our Oncologist suggested that his third shot be Pfizer. He had the Pfizer snd had the normal reaction, chills, fever, etc. the same as most others.
