I would try a different time of day, morning or early lunch and see if that helps a little.

Keep us posted.

Thanks. Was hoping to hear from someone taking in evening for their input on sleeping

I take venetoclax with dinner around 7 pm because I find it makes me sleepy. We all seem to have different reactions. When I took it earlier in the day it made me crash in the afternoon. I take another drug as part of a clinical trial which I take in the morning because it’s a bit of an upper.

If she is on week 2 and still ramping up she may need to keep taking it at same time of day so her blood test comparison is most useful. I had to take it in the morning for the first 5 weeks for that reason.

Thanks. I will encourage her to work thru it. Maybe sleeping will get easier

I would half to agree with the above statement. When I began my treatment in hospital, they started me off with the dose in the morning with breakfast. Once the ramp up was completed, I didn’t have any sleep issues. I did change the time I took the drug to the evening with dinner. The reason for the change was that I had returned to work and found that I developed bouts of diarrhea one to two hours after take my meds. I just found it easier to deal with that at home rather than trying to find restrooms while out on the road.

I just started Venetoclax a week ago. I take it a noon with food and lots of water. So far have not felt sleepy, or tired.

Hi. I've been taking it about an hour after dinner every evening. One thing I do before bed is read for thirty to forty five minutes, from an actual book, not a device. Seems to make me sleepier.

I’ve been taking Venetoclax approx 30 minutes after breakfast since April 2018. No issues regarding sleep.

I take mine just before bed and sleep like a baby. I’ve been on it for 23months.

I took Venetoclax for about 14 months. I took it at about 08:00 each day. Do not remember any sleep problems.

GL64,

Was she having trouble sleeping before?

I did have trouble sleeping during venetoclax treatment regardless of the time of day that I took the meds. I found that my sleep issue were more related to aggravations such as rashes and itching, muscle cramps, mild sinusitis, bathroom trips due to increased hydration etc... The gazyva infusions and the premeds for gazyva affected my sleeplessness much more than venetoclax, primarily the steroids.

I found that taking the venetoclax in the PM was more beneficial than in the AM because I experienced less nausea.

Sleep has not been as sweet since CLL whether during progression, during treatment or while in remission. In addition it is also accompanied by the promises of age.

For me, eating well, getting as much activity as possible, creating one's self hopeful both in mind and with the presence of a peaceful productive environment provides the best sleep even if the sleep is in contrast to that of my youth.

Although this can be a challenge, I hope you get the sleep you need.
