"limited purposes"!? "go outside for exercise"!?

I want to go out for a 5/6 mile early morning walk, on the deserted streets of London.... Would that pass for "go outside for exercise"? Or will I be breaking the rules🚷? It's all a bit vague....

P. S. You'll never take me alive, copper!

Update: I went for a 4 hour walk...... The police didn't give me a beating...

The rules say you can exercise in local streets, parks, public gardens and beaches. They also say there is further guidance on exercising but not where to find it. Maybe that's someone's homework to be handed in to no. 10 by the end of the week.

Advice includes avoiding crowded areas, so I hope you're not embroiled in the runners' rush hour!

No 'rush hour' where I walk..... I always take the back streets, and then drop down onto the Thames pathways .... Far less traffic fumes... 👍

Thanks zaax, I'm still trying to figure out what I should do tomorrow, when I spoke to the HR person at work on Tuesday she said it's only guidance. No letter yet so I'm hoping if I decide to stay away they will accept my last shielding letter, after all I still have cll ! God bless, Terry

Just received an email letter from DHSC Clinically Extremely Vunerable. Assume everyone will soon.

“ You will be able to use this letter as evidence for your employer to show that you should not work outside your home until 2 December “

Thanks Sue,

And you to. It has definitely brought me down with a thump and reconsider what I do in the next month 🤔 it will now restrict me to a weekly trip to the butchers at the bottom of the road.

It's hard I know. Really something had to be done and I'm in favour although Suffolk is quite low in cases but we are surrounded by other areas which are a lot higher.

You thinking of coming to Suffolk next summer or to early yet.

Sadly Sue at the moment I am just thinking from week to week and not planning anything. Not seen much of Wales so maybe next year ?

Hi. Sorry only just realised you’ve posted this so removed my post on same topic.

It’s all a bit ambiguous isn’t it? Basically, at the mercy of the employer.

Also, this only applies to England not Wales. Our letters advised only caution not shielding and our lockdown comes to an end on Monday.

Thank you, this hasn't been reported in the main TV news as far as I'm aware.

Thanks for posting this. There is advice for those who are clinically extremely vulnerable (us) and also for clinically extremely vulnerable children. However, they never include advice for parents who are clinically extremely vulnerable and have small children. My husband and I can work from home but only if our kids go to school and nursery. If they stay at home, it would be impossible. Do I keep them at home or do I send them in? I'm really not sure what to do. My son's school has already had 2 confirmed covid cases. They closed the bubbles and no one else got sick afterwards - thanks God. Both cases were actually adults working in the school. A real dilemma...I don't know what to do...

Not sure it makes it easier but this is included in the advice.

"Children who live with someone who is clinically extremely vulnerable, but who are not clinically extremely vulnerable themselves, should still attend school."

I didn't notice this! Thanks! That will do then.

Just to point out this advice is England only, not the entire UK. Bizarrely I'm in NI and having got through the first wave relatively easily it looks like our executive is faltering. We have some of the highest incidences in the UK but only a partial lockdown, due to end 13th November. Not sure what happens then. Our setup is that agreeance must come from both major communities, majorly represented by the DUP (right wing unionist) and sinn fein (republican socialist). There are other parties representing these political stances however they don't have much power, such is the will of our electorate. Presently they are arguing about unsolicitated, yet returned, payments made to sinn fein by automatic central gov process, 3 payments of 10k rates relief. That sets the tone and progress is likely to be tedious while they bang their tribal drums and point fingers at each other.
