Did u mean to comment on the inquiry from another post about Florida specialist?

My Dad went to Lynn Center- Dr. Gomolin. Do you know if he is still there?

Unfortunately the only CLL specialists are at Moffitt and Mayo in JAX. We have lots of great hematologists in Florida but we are such a huge state and have so few specialists. 💕

I go there. I see Dr. Harold Richter. For 5 + years he has been excellent. There is another set of offices in Delray Beach which is convenient for me.

It was way too long of a site.

I thought it was going to be a list of experts in Florida. I don't want to give my information to anyone. Will check it out another way.

Why can you not share the pertinent info a fellow member needs on this site?

The sharing and supporting of information here does not require personal information from one member to another.

One of the benefits of this site is the sharing and anonymity it offers.

Can you simply list the specialists in that area if you have any please. What criteria are you using to designate them as specialists?

Your site says people who are asking for information will be joining a 'CLL Community'. What does that mean exactly? What do you do with their details?

ps My Mac indicates your website is not secure and so people's information probably won't be.

I just had a strong reaction to this reply...this group has done so much for me and countless others by the free sharing of information about specialists and whatever else it might be. A member should never have to do anything more than simply ask the question and if someone knows, they help and share with that person.

Joining another site or providing personal information is not what this group is about, and its my view that such requests undermine the safety and trust that we all have come to rely on here.

Hello very scared and depressed here.. recently diagnosed. My primary Doc. Is with Baptist health. After a routine physical and blood work I got the call. She sent me to MD Anderson in Jacksonville. My doc isn’t a CLL specialist (I’m guessing) but he only works with CLL and other blood related. I’m at the beginning so trying to get my thoughts straight and learn. Because this is MD Anderson’s /Baptist can I contact a CLL in Texas and have them work together if necessary. Do I search and find a CLL specialist closer by? I feel like I’m lost in the woods.. I’m new to Florida.

Having a doctor who only works with CLL and other blood cancers is as good as you can get next to someone who develops a reputation as a "CLL specialist". That's because with the fast changing world of new and better treatments, the best management of our CLL will be from specialists who both keep up with new developments and gain experience with patients on the new treatments.

Many of us who don't live conveniently close to a CLL specialist, are able to achieve the next best arangement of having a local specialist who maintains a link with a recognised CLL specialist which we visit perhaps annually. I hope that you are able to do the same.

Thank you for your response. I’m spinning!!! I take it from AussieNeil you are Australian? My son moved to Bondi Beach 9 years ago. We try and see each other once a year but with COVID-19 that’s has come to a screeching halt and now this new hiccup. I have visited twice and completely understand why he and his wife love living there. They are now citizens. Again thank you for all the helpful information.
