Rash Side Effect. Imbruvica
Hi obtom2,
-
Are you posting a question or a statement? How can we help?
-
I had a rash that got progressively worse over 6 months when I started on Ibrutinib/Imbruvica. My doctor had me stop the drug for 4 weeks, and the rash went away. I restarted and the rash came roaring back immediately. So we stopped Ibrutinb.

I believe that skin rash is a noted side effect of Ibrutinib. This posting

includes all the reported side effects - Rash was reported by 27% of patients.

Thanks for the info. I am currently waiting for a response from my oncologist.. I will be trying a prescription cream. ( Efodex. ) Hope everything works out alright for you.
Efudex is topical chemotherapy for skin cancer. I would think it could actually worsen a rash caused by anything else (ibrutinib in your case). Because even on normal skin, Efudex causes a red almost rash-like outbreak as it works.
Yes rash and have used cortisone 10 over the counter med to comfort and control! My rash is at ankle area and between 2 toes! Usually gone within a week or 2 but seems to return often wish you best of luck
Same thing happened to me, looked like a burn from the inside out that kept getting worse. Was diagnosed with peri-oral dermatitis due to the Imbruvica and was taken off. Started on Minocycline, one capsule twice a day in February, now on Topical Clindamycin and it is almost gone. Am waiting to go on Acalabrutinib.
Thank you for sharing. My oncologist just suspended Imbruvica dosing. Now looking for a topical.
I have been on imbruvica since 2017. I also had a rash, It was on my neck and back. It came and went. lt lasted for a couple of days. after a month or so it went away completly. This drug has many side effects. The rash will probably not be the only side effect you will get. I went through quit a few of them. They lasted about 5 months, have not had one since.
Hang in there, things will get better.
After starting IMBRUVICA ,I had a rash on the cheeks for three month'. Clean daily very gently usind facial wipes with Cetaphil Cleaning Lotion. Then apply Dermend Bruising Cream. Avoid sun and wind. After that no problems. Good idea to cover the body every day with Welmedix Home Care Pro Fragile Skin Protective Ointment. (I order all through Amazon) .
