I have a large red circle on my face, I am not exactly a rash not sure what it is. Have an appointment with dermatology a week from tomorrow to look at it.
The Imbruvica provokes blood leaking into the top layers of the skin.
Of course when I saw the Dermatologist it was gone however I had been off the IB and back 1/2 dose. Now about the same length of time on full dose as beginning it is back. It has a pink flushed look. today I wore blush on the other cheek and it just looked like blushed cheeks. the side of my knee itches however nothing there. These seem trivial to bigger side effects. I can live with it.
I'm beginning to develop dry, itchy, rash or acne-like patches on my neck and chest. I don't know if this is a side effect of ibrutinib (been on it almost a year now) but I'll be watching closely for other comments to this post.
Husband developed dry scaly rash on forehead since starting ibrutinib - not itchy and has one that comes n goes on both arms (wrists to elbow) that’s very itchy - they look the same though. Tried several moisturisers no difference, prescribed a cream - low dose cortisone I think it was - haven’t filled script yet. Recently tried e45 cream on face 2-3 times a day and gone in less than a week (after 18months). Yet to try on arms as not inflamed atm.
Try Zax Bruise Cream..it does do some good especially if the marks look more like bloody bruises. Good luck!
Yes I have the same problem. Some days I didn't even want to leave the house! Even though it looks like acne my dermatologist says it's something else (that I forgot). He prescribed a roll on antibiotic that works great. A relief because I didn't enjoy having to wear makeup. It is Clindamycin phosphate topical solution.
Virginia; I took Clindamycin as an antibiotic and was told by my GP it's not a good choice as even six months down the road there can be effects from it. I stopped it after two days. Now, I know you're talking about a topical, but with the word Clindamycin, thought I'd relate what I was told.
For you and many of us it's just a side effect from Imbruvica.... as my Pharmacist said if that's the worst issue you have smile and enjoy your life. We are all very lucky to have found a life saving drug.
Yes I have exactly the same, looks just like acne ,2 or 3 spots a week. Some also around body.i be been on Ibrutinib for 6 months, apart from them generally ok.
On various occasions when I was on Ibrutinib my face would become bloody from micro sores and irritations. It was usually the worst when I was under stress.
Three weeks ago I woke up with a rash on the right side of my face. It didn't go away so I went to the dermatologist who gave me a cream with cortisone to apply. It's been three weeks and still not gone. I've had rashes, blood bruises under the skin, my hair has changed in texture, and now have little pimply things coming on my hands. I know it's the Imbruvica. I never had these things before starting this drug. Rashes are definitely related to the drug. The only thing I can say is be grateful as just a few years ago it would have been chemo for CLL. So, if this is as bad as it gets, I'll live with it.
Dermatologists rush you out of the office recommending cortisone, which eventually thins your skin. Beware ! The Imbruvica provokes blood leaking outwards to the top layers of the skin. There is probably no safe methods except strengthening the top layers of the skin with creams that provide resulst.
I have struggled with blood spots type rash on facial cheeks since starting Imbruvica a half a year ago. Now the rash, which is really blood leaking into the top layers of the skin, is waning. I had been applying over several week several times each day a layer of lotion with a cosmetic pad, a combination of "Dermend Moisturizing Bruise Formula" and "Eucerin Original Healing Ointment. Now as the leaking/rash seems waning, I am applying several times each day layers of "CPAPgel" which is mask sealer for CPAP masks, whose primary ingredient is Aloe Barbadensis. This gel rapidly helps the skin recuperate. It may also be a good idea to keep you facial skin cool and avoid heat and especially the sun outside. There are sun mask that can be worn outside to avoid sun impact on the face. To clean your face wipe slightly with Cetaphil Face Cleaning Lotion.
