Starting on Ventoclax

I am starting on Ventoclax on Tuesday morning ( hospital bed booked ). Can anyone tell me what to expect, how many days do they monitor you? Any information from people who have been through the process would be very helpful.

Hi,

My husband has been on the maximum dose for the last 5 weeks .

How it was done was he had a blood test the day before he went into hospital because his kidneys aren’t 100% he was given an infusion then another blood test if that was ok he was given allopurinol, anti viral and anti bacterial meds and started on the smallest dose of venetoclax followed by a blood test 6 hours after the venetoclax then another blood test 24 hours after. If that was ok he was sent home with enough meds to take till the week after when it started again.

He’s not had to many side effects 🤞

Good luck, I hope it all goes smoothly for you.

My husband was given a a booklet that explained quite a bit about the drug before he had to go to the hospital which answered quite a lot of questions.

I started last Tuesday.

I was in a drip for 30 hrs which was boring and they stuck it in my right knuckle. I took 2 x tiny pills, I had a few blood tests & had my obs done every few hours. Apart from that, nothing happened, in a good way.

I am on drug that reduces uric acid, antiviral, antibiotic, ibrutinib & diabetes meds

Like your previous reply - I’ve had no side effects

When I started I was in for 3 days. They did the IV and the most irritating thing was the blood tests which I think they did every 4 hours and it irritated me to be awakened at night to get jabbed (and learn which spots would 'work' for blood so I wouldn't have to get 2nd or 3rd tries).
