Deb, is there any reason since you joined most all of your posts promote the Chris beats cancer website, a site that profits by promoting scientifically unproven supplements to people with cancer?

I would think you would want more to talk about your experiences with Cll than promote a website widely recognized among scientists as being a questionable, money making scam site. Your post reads like a not so well disguised ad.

Sorry if this offends anyone, just keeping it real. Anyone who is believes this Chris site is legit should read all the articles linked to in the wiki article below and draw their own conclusions:

Hi, Cajunjeff🙋‍♀️ I'm very sorry if I offended you. I just wanted to inform others it would be helpful to incorporate these items in ones regiment. I know everyone here is well educated, almost a Doctor of CLL , I SHOULD SAY!!! You are all so knowledgable, I'm a newbie , at Stage 0. I will look into finding a CLL Specialist.😊 Thank You for your honesty. I did message AussieNeil and apologized, as I meant no disrespect to this wonderful forum. Your friend in Health, 🙋‍♀️ Debbie.

Deb, I hope I don’t come off as rude, I assure you I wish the best in you fight against our common foe, Cll. I assume you have Cll. Quite frankly, whenever I see a new poster promote sites like Chrisbeatcancer I wonder if they are legit Cll patients or posers who are affiliated with a money making alternative treatment scam site.

I hope you don’t take that personally. It’s the internet you know. I could be a 12 year old posting from Thailand for that matter.

I joined this site to get science based information to help me fight Cll. Chris, for example, has a link on his site claiming carrot juice cures lung cancer. It does not. People who delay conventional treatment for their lung cancer to drink carrot juice are likely to die. I think that would be on Chris. I can’t say if he is well intentioned or not, I can say he profits from vulnerable people with cancer. If he reads this and wants to sue me, I should not be that hard to find. I’ll take on anyone in court who advises people to skip chemo and drink juice instead for their cancer.

We have a lot of vulnerable on here searching for alternate remedies. Who wouldn’t rather drink carrot juice than do chemo? When you link to his site, you encourage people to eat apricot seeds and shark cartilage to control their Cll. There is no science for that. It could be harmful to people.

Most all of us on here agree that eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables is an important part of our plan to fight our cancer. That’s different than encouraging people to skip chemo and drink carrot smoothies.

I assume based on your response you are someone with Cll and you found the right place. We are brothers and sisters in the fight. And I one hundred percent support your choice to eat apricot seeds and eat shark cartilage. Promoting those remedies to others is different.

Show me the clinical studies and and Cll experts who support shark cartilage, and I’ll be eating sharkfin soup tonight. Your post about AMAZING HERBS looked like an ad for Chris to me. Any guy who promotes that people drink carrot juice and skip chemo for lung cancer is a dangerous flake to me. You don’t see that when you read his site? Would you go for carrot juice over your doctors advice for chemo? Just curious.

You mention turmeric + curcumin. They are the same thing. And to be honest, none of these items has been proven by SCIENCE to do anything to cancer as complicated as CLL. If it did, we would all take them and be cured.

I've also noticed the Chris Cures Cancer references.

I whole heartedly agree with Jeff.

Deb - You won’t believe some of the things your “friends” will recommend once they hear about your diagnosis! One of my (now former) friends pushed Noni Juice so hard that I ended up removing her from my life. As others have said, find a specialist who you trust, and listen to his/her advice!

Hi Deb,

This community has a strong focus on evidence based treatments, proven through clinical trials and often independently verified. Our community guidelines specifically ask members not to promote alternative treatments. However sharing personal experience with them is acceptable, provided you can provide objective information on changes in your health, such as improved blood counts and the like. With very few exceptions, you have been recommending remedies with little to no evidence of effectiveness.

Twice you have recommended shark cartilage, so you need to know that "Claims that shark cartilage can treat cancer are not backed up by research.

Using shark cartilage as an alternative to conventional cancer treatment can be very harmful to your health."

cancerresearchuk.org/about-...

Apricot kernels/seed can kill you through cyanide poisoning: theverge.com/platform/amp/2...

Have you actually taken the time to read the objective assessments of Chris Wark's cancer journey and how he manipulates personal testimonials to promote his business? Incidentally, testimonials are the poorest form of evidence - particularly when it involves removing testimonials of cancer patients who have died following promoted alternative treatments!

There is a huge amount of positive information shared in this community about treatments that are proven to work very well. Please don't waste any more time reading and viewing Chris's information. It's potentially dangerous to your health.

Thank you AussieNeil for articulating so well the standards of evidence to which we must adhere.

As patients we must be clear about our choices, the least of which is "to first do ourselves no harm".

Hi Debbie as you can see there is very good advice on this website. The first advice I took was to see a real CLL specialist not a regular hemo-onc. You sound like your running scared, this place points you to help.

No problem. I'm not offended! :) I have a keen interest in alternative medicine and cancer healing, although I think the Chris Cures Cancer website has, over the years, become a bit scammy and reaching for the easy money from desperate cancer patients and not really backed by sound science. Chris may have started it with the best of intentions in wanting to help other people. But it has grown into something else. Not real high-level information on alternative medicine.

I tried a course of medicinal cannabis for my CLL shortly after being diagnosed in 2016. And when I was diagnosed with a second cancer in 2018, I researched like crazy, saw an excellent naturopathic oncology expert, got a good regimen from him, then consulted an excellent integrative and functional medicine doctor and did 3 months of IV Vitamin C and mistletoe. It did not result in tumor shrinkage as I had hoped. But I got through the 6 weeks of radiation with much less physical damage than is usually the case with pelvic radiation. And I think the IV Vitamin C contributed to that success (minimal skin and tissue damage from the daily radiation treatments).

I think many of us look at alternative healthy ways to support and heal our bodies after being diagnosed. And that's not wrong! But there are a lot of dubious cancer cures out there. It has taken me time to be able to look at them critically to see which might actually be valid, and discard the others.

Good luck on your journey!

Hi!Canuck901,🙋‍♀️ Thank you for your feedback. I was just trying to be helpful. I thought incorporating some of these items into our regiment are important for our condition I like to say. I will look into the CLL Specialist 🙋‍♀️. Yours in Health , Debbie🙋‍♀️.

Regrettably, both conventional and alternative cancer therapies are profit driven enterprises. That is our civilizations materialistic flaw that puts us all into varying degrees of jeopardy.

It is always beneficial to cleanup one's diet and lifestyle, but you must always keep in mind that alternative therapies have a failure rate that in most cases far exceed conventional therapies. Often it is our "fear" of suffering through conventional treatment that drives many of us into the arms of the proactive "feel-good" alternative cancer market.

I pursued a "rational" alternative protocol during my eight year CLL wait and watch period. When the lymph-nodes in my neck suddenly began to swell, accompanied with negative blood counts, the alternative approach lost its luster and conventional treatment became my only logical option. I continue to maintain the diet and lifestyle changes, but eliminated 80% of the herbs and supplements due to potential negative effects and conflicts with the Ibrutinib treatment protocol. Everyone is different and their treatment choices will be different as well, but please use extreme caution when adhering to alternative supplementation protocols when conventional treatment begins. Give your treatment the best opportunity to successfully do its work without interference.

Probably the greatest hurdle we are all forced to face is our own mortality, which in truth is potentially the greatest gift cancer offers us. Dealing with our own mortality is where the magic of life can truly begin to shine.

Deb,

Thank you for your post. I also am in the early stages of CLL and have been trying to postpone chemotherapy through diet. I started off with the idea that the more anti-cancer foods I would eat, the better off I would be. But after doing some research I learned that some anti-cancer foods cancel each other out if taken together.

For example, several studies have found that turmeric (curcumin) and green tea (EGCG) can be somewhat effective against CLL if taken by themselves, but that they cancel each other out if taken together.

I wrote a post here about four foods that have been been found to be somewhat effective against CLL in the laboratory. I discussed which of them can be eaten together, and which are better eaten at different times of day:

It's nice to meet you🙋‍♀️. I'm at Stage 0 I hope to stay at this stage for a long time😇, as you are hoping also. ❤ Yes, I found out Green Tea and Curcumin are very good but I didnt know that they cannot be taken together . I'm taking an immune booster/antioxidant and drink a few times a week the Green tea. I hear Chemo that scares me🙄, a few of my friends battled and are battling breast cancer. This forum is a wonderful place to share your journey , latest research and development with medications specifically for CLL etc. My WBC IS 36,000 Right now I go back to check on my count May 1st. Many have suggested( the wonderful people here to see a Specialist for CLL I agree . Right now I'm seeing the Chief of Hemotology at Good Samaritan. He is very good, but I will look into a Specialist. 🙋‍♀️ Thank You for your Post, I will definitely look at it❤. Yours in Health. P.S. Thank you for reading mine🤗.Debbie.

In debs defense, I personally know 2 humans who have used only diet and supplement ti tangle their CLL. One gentleman has been stable for 12 years. Lisa, my friend has been staying well for 3 years and is just now looking into further treatments.

That being said.......we tried holistic with Patrick and it didn’t work. We were made to feel like failures in the natural health community and it was a very isolating horrible feeling. I do believe in healing and a Healer. But mostly I do believe that if it works for you.....do it. With no guilt and no shame. CLL is VERY different from other cancers tho. So to apply chris Wark’s way of healing his colon cancer (after resection) to s leukemia patient can be very misleading. Most health protocols boost wbc. In Leuks....that’s the problem. So you must be very cautious when advising in this way.

I say this because we lived it. We got Patrick so healthy he almost died. All whites, no reds. It was so bitter.

Hi! Beefcakesgirl🙋‍♀️(Cool name😎) Thank You for your defense. I wholeheartedly agree with you. Although we share the commonality of CLL , every one has his/her unique journey. Also, you are so right a lot of natural items can increase WBC etc. Sorry , about the negative response you received 😢. It's nice to meet you 🙋‍♀️, Your friend in Health, Debbie. P.S. So sorry it didnt work for Patrick😢. Happy for the gentleman and your friend Lisa🤗🤗.

Beefcakesgirl is quite right about immune booster supplements and CLL. In 11 years of checking supplement ingredients claimed to boost immunity, I nearly always find reputable research showing that if they have a probability of actually working*, they in part do so by boosting B-lymphocyte production. That's exactly what you don't want with a B-lymphocyte cancer!

* The evidence for claims by the supplement industry, where it exists at all, is nearly always based on animal studies, which don't necessarily translate to humans, or far less commonly to in vitro (test tube) studies with human cells. In vivo human studies studies are quite rare.
