I thought I would give you an update. In December they removed the tumor with clear margins and clear lymph nodes. I was so excited until they told me I’m triple negative. This means there is a high probability the cancer will return. I will have to go through 4 rounds of chemo 3 weeks apart then radiation.
Dr. Choi told me to stop the Imbruvica the day before treatment. He also said the up side may be that the chemo may suppress the CLL for sometime. However I am unmutated so who knows.
I’m waiting to get the call to start treatment. One more hill to climb!

HI Migirl, I am so glad they got it all out. Please try not to worry about something that may not happen. I know that is so hard to do, maybe impossible. But know that everyone reading your post cares about you. Praying that you get through your treatments and you never hear the word breast cancer again! CLL is enough!
migirlusa, So sorry for the need for the chemo and radiation, but I'd hang on to the hope the Dr. has given as a possibility that the chemo can work to keep the CLL at bay.
Please know we are with you and holding you as you go through this.
Good news regarding clear margins and lymph nodes. I recently experienced breast ca as well. Elected lumpectomy followed by radiation. As my tumor was hormone positive- presently on letrozole. Your specialist was right- radiation impacted my ALC and WBC - reduced to normal readings. To note, I did not under take chemo at this time. Unfortunately, my ALC and WBC doubled during the proceeding year. Recently initiated FCR- had to stop after 2 cycles due to side effects. However, recently seen specialist- no evidence of enlarged lymph nodes and ALC at 1.1
This whole cancer thing is pretty crappy. I was just getting sort of centred (with CLL status) when all of a sudden breast cancer detected. I guess this really speaks to being cognizant of both mind and body.
My heart goes out to you. It is so upsetting to be diagnosed with a secondary cancer. This past summer, I was diagnosed with mixed invasive ductal and lobular breast cancer and CLL in my left breast. I had a mastectomy at Sloan (MSKCC) in August and needed a further resection 2 weeks later to get clear margins. Chemo started in September (CMF) Q 2wks x 8 cycles. I had my last chemo the week of Christmas. Try to take it a day at a time. I am learning to deal with what is front and center at the moment. I am wishing you well to get through this treatment. Let us know how you are doing.
