Hey CLLers, I found this website and looks like I found a new family. I'll soon turn 72. I was diagnosed for CLL in March of 2013. Did BR from October 2016 to February 2017. Currently symptom free and do monthly blood work and IGIV at oncologist. Dr. mentioned if I relapse we might try a pill. I assume she meant Ibrutinib. Would appreciate any input you guys might have. God bless my new family.

Welcome Louie!

Hi Louie - welcome!
I am not sure which continent you come from, greetings from the UK in any case!
It is good to hear you are doing well at 72 years young! Your remission duration cannot be predicted, and indeed there are pills IF need in your future, Ibrutinib is definitely one, there are many more, so if the time comes that you need more treatment, please check in here, as well as all the other places when choosing to proceed.
All aspects of CLL and the impact it has on our lives is discussed here. Lots of advice, and in many cases you will find folk who have been through stuff that you might be facing.
In the mean time embrace life and live it to the full. Eat well, keep fit and avoid infection.
Best wishes

Welcome to the family! I don’t know much about BR or the use of Ibrutinib after BR, but my husband had been on Ibrutinib for 5 months and doing very well with minimal side effects. Enjoy your treatment free time!
Hello louie48
Sounds like a good plan. I am 72 as well. I was diagnosed in Sept 2017 and did B+R from Nov 2018 to April 2019. Feel great. My plan is also to maybe go to pill when/if I relapse. There have been a lot of new drugs in testing/approval stage which should be ready when/if we need them. Blessings.
Hi louie48,
Keep your eye on Calquence aka acalabrutinib. Already approved in relapse and should is submitted for front line approval.
Suppose to be better targeted in some cases, and with possibly less adverse side affects.
