I have had a bladder infection for a couple of months. I went to a urologist. The bacteria came back as streptococcus and staph. Still haven’t got ridden of it. Could this have anything to do with CLL?

Are you on antibiotic? Sounds like you need one for this. And how are your neutrophils? If below normal - then, yes your UTI could certainly be consequence of that (which in turn is consequence of the CLL). Good luck!

I agree with Kim.
Surely yr GP could test your urine for infection... You do need to know! Antibiotic resistance can be an issue with urine infections. Certainly your Urologist will know what to do if you get recurrent UTIs - or failure of treatment.

Have you had a urine culture done to show which antibiotics your infection is susceptible to? If not, insist that one be done and ask for a copy of the results. Low IgG, low neutrophils, or both can result in repeated infections. You should have those tested, as well. You might need something to boost the neutrophils, IVIG infusions to boost your IgG, or both to be able to knock out this infection.
been going through the similar problem...five UTI's/antibiotics since March. Mine so far have been Strep B and Klebsiella pneumoniae. Was told last visit that the Strep B will be with me for good now as I became a carrier. My CLL doc says that I may be treated with prophylactic dose. at this time am waiting on another culture. They get 'cured' but come back within weeks. Just started Ibrutinib yesterday and hopefully it will also help. not fun
I was prescribed Vagifem pessaries (Oestrogen) and they have helped.

The general practitioner who treated a UTI for me last year suggested cranberry juice and supplements once the antibiotic was finished. That has been good advice for me -- although I probably should have bought stock in a cranberry business.
