How many of you feel like you get/are dehydrated while on venetoclax? Meaning you just can't drink enough.
I am aware that part of the prescription is to drink lots of water for proper kidney function. I do drink a lot over the course of the day and into the evening. Typically I drink between the bottled water and tap water its about 120-150 oz a day.

Eliot, I am not a Dr., but you might be overdoing it. There is such a thing as water intoxication, overloading the kidneys with too much fluid intake in a short amount of time. However, here is a good article link to determine (along with talking with your Dr.) about what is a good amount for being in treatment.
There is a need also to maintain electrolyte levels, which this link also addresses.
Thank you for the link. I read it. Part of my drinking so much water is that I live very close to Hell: Bullhead City, AZ, USA. It is about 5-10 degrees hotter than Las Vegas and Phoenix. Currently our daily temperature goes above 116º F and only drops to around 100º F at night if we are lucky. I do my best to keep an eye on my sodium and other electrolytes. After reviewing the article in the link you gave me, I did get a little concerned and reviewed my last 6 blood test over the last 2-3 months. I average about 142-145mmoI/L with a normal range of 134-147. Thankfully I have never been high or low for the sodium, that I can remember
I live in hot climate and always drank 2L a day - advised 2-3L water on venetoclax so bought a 1L drink bottle and made sure I filled it 3 times a day, drank it plus usual 2 cuppa.
Check with your specialist. People on here told me I was drinking too much water when I started Venetoclax. I checked with my care team and they encouraged me to continue as I was. I won’t tell you how much because your care team may have their own opinions about you. That was six months ago. Now, whenever I forget to drink half as much as i was, I can get a headache pretty quickly, particularly when in the “hell zone” of today’s record-breaking heat.
Staying hydrated while taking venetoclax is very important, however as stated by clllady, there is more to this than pounding as much water as you can hold.
In addition to the applying good hydration practice, it should also be understood that our bodies are being influenced by the disease and the treatment. In other words, We are not necessarily defined by the norm.
It is good to listen to the body and keep an eye on lab numbers to assure the methods applied provide the expected outcome, e.g, creatinine levels.
Depending on ones overall health; age, weight, comorbidities, and changes in activity and environmental condition can also affect how one increases or decreases hydration respectively.
Hydration is a relative term. It is good to be under the direction of a specialist, however, it is even better to study and advocate in partnership with the specialist.
I, personally, have found that the liquid is most important to me in the 2 hours before and after I take the drug. I can ease up later on in the day. I drink about 2 1/2 liters a day, but a little more than half of that is between 8 - 12 noon. The rest is more spread out. I think this is another issue where people are different. You might just have to experiment within the parameters that your doctor suggests.
One needs to drink at least 1.7 to 2 Litres kif water a day on Veneteclax. Otherwise you run the sih of Tumour Lysis Syndrome. This is a miust- cheers Rosie - On Venereclax0 a retired pharmacist and under the professotr who ran the original trial on the drug
