Does anyone have any advice on how much water to drink each day? Should this increase with the ramp up each week? Thank you.

Obviously, you should ask your doctor, but most say a bare minimum of 8-10 glasses a day, more in the beginning as the drug is killing the most cells. The more water you drink, the easier it is for your your kidneys to flush out all the bad stuff. I find if I don’t drink enough, I get urinary tract infection symptoms. Also, how many Venetoclax pills are you taking at a time? I take 4 along with 3 Ibrutinib at the same time of day. Most directions for any drug say to drink a full glass of water with a pill. But my Gastroenterologist says when taking 3 or more that you should drink 2 full glasses with the pills. This eases any possible gastric issues. Also, with my doctor’s approval, I have found eating half a banana while I am taking the Venetoclax helps with digestion issues. Venetoclax can cause your body to leech out magnesium and potassium so, the banana helps a little bit with that. Again, discuss with your doctor or nurse.

Good luck with the Venetoclax. It is a great drug.

Hi BeckyLUSA, thank you so much for your comment. Dad’s on 2 x 10mg currently. He is having more than 8 glasses but it seems that the water is quite crucial and we were curious to know if people found the 8 or so glasses to be enough or if they found taking more was beneficial/necessary. He told me today he is feeling a big difference from having increased his water intake so were interested to see how much of a difference this makes with his side effects. Thanks also for mentioning the banana - I believe he is on top of the magnesium but I will have to ask him about potassium.

Wishing you all the best with your treatment also. Thank you again.

I seem to do well as long as I stay around 10 glasses, 80 oz US.

This is from the Venclexta website:

"Drink plenty of water when taking VENCLEXTA to help reduce your risk of getting TLS. Drink 6 to 8 glasses (about 56 ounces total) of water each day, starting 2 days before your first dose, on the day of your first dose of VENCLEXTA, and each time your dose is increased."

I drink decaf coffee and tea! I bounce off the wall with even one cup of regular coffee or tea!🤪
