Achey hips

Hi a few years before I was dx I remember having achey hips especially in the summer and put it down to playing tennis , football etc that was when I was 47 . Started treatment ibrutinib at 49 and I noticed that although you get aches from ibrutinib I didn't get achey hips anymore. Went dancing at a soul night on Saturday I know I should grow up but love dancing and it's probably because of that that I now have my achey hips back. My bloods are near perfect etc and the ibrutinib is still working well I'm told ,but I now wonder if maybe this could be a sign that things could be on the turn ,had my 3 monthly on Wednesday and told all is good so hopefully not but I seem to have read somewhere there is a connection between achey hips etc and cll so wondering who else has had the same

If achey hips and general arthralgia was a sign of regressing cartwheels, a high proportion of us would be in that position. Me included!

All was good at your consult and there’s no reason to think this is anything other than the flare up of a pre-existing condition. Dancing has probably exercised muscles your back had forgotten you had! 😉

Keep an eye on things and mention the aches to your specialist if you’re still having problems in case you need further structural investigations but I’m afraid Ibrutinib is infamous for this kind of issue.

I have severe roving joint pain and am never quite sure where it’s going to strike next! 🥴

Best wishes,

Thanks Newdawn and I'm sure it is connected to me thinking I can still soul dance like I did in my twenties lol , I still just about can but I'm 51 now not 21 🤪 I will keep an eye out for things though 👍

Hard to tell Imbruvica can cause achiness as well.

Be well,

It's weird, I wasn't achey while taking ibrutinib for 2 1/2 years, but it seems since I've been off of it (about 1 1/2 years now), I'm having one problem after another. Latest is leg/knee problem which is making it almost impossible to walk. I realize I'm getting older (in my 50's), but I had NO aches or pains prior to treatment 4 years ago; since I have issues with my sacroiliac on both sides, both knees, shoulder....none of them the result of injury. I suspect it has something to do with either the chemo or ibrutinib.
