ICE OR HEAT OR ?

I have having my first BMB tomorrow in preparation for clinical trial. I will have some sedation during the procedure. Afterwards, what have you found most useful for the soreness?

Ice pack, heating pad, Advil or something else?

Thank you.

It’s a non event. A tiny bit sore. Not really worthy of doing anything.

Thank you for the reassurance. Of all the things I will be doing, this is the only one that I am anxious about.

You’ll do just fine. It is over in a flash. After my last BMB it took me a day to realize I was sore. I had no pain at all after the first one. Please post here after you have it done. I’m confident you will have good results. Your input will give patients who haven’t had a BMB confidence before their procedures.

Didn't feel anything. I did take a Tylenol just in case. Advil and Aleve not allowed due to bleeding sensitivity.

You will have a bandage over it for few days. Check with nurses, but I think no heat or ice is recommended. They will give you instructions. I tried to lean on other cheek when sitting and I laid on my side while sleeping. Area can be sensitive. 💕

My hubby was given an ice pack to take for the drive home. Oddly,

Moffitt told him they rarely have any one awake for it. Maybe it’s not

odd. It just surprised me.

Good luck!!

Ice helped the most.

They'll suggest Tylenol rather than Advil which increase bleeding. I didn't need either.

I was sore over a week. It's still a little bit. Either because my doctor's not experienced at them (I got that impression). Or because I didn't ice it much (I was busy icing something else. Couldn't focus on keeping both in place.)

Moxie, Ice and tylenol helped me. And, it can be sore for awhile.

I had sedation also and will if and when I have another. For me the emotional anxiety and bodily tension around it was lessened by knowing I would be sedated.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who was sore for a while. Not that I want you to be sore too.

I didn't like the local numbing agents. Was still effecting me 12 hours later (I'm slow to remove those from my system). I'll have to ask what they use for more sedation; might do better with it.

On the plus side, I got to ask my doctor questions while it has happening. In my case, that too helped my overall anxiety on all of this :).

I had my first BMB last week... it was fine.. no sedation needed and afterwards felt just a little bit sore for a couple of days when sitting down. I didn’t take pain killers - no need. Good luck !
