Disability allowance in Ireland

This a bone of contention to be honest. Although a Chronic illness and a lifetime sentence, lol, we don't automatically qualify for any State Benefits.
You have to prove that the illness affects you so much that it affects your everyday living, ie you need help to get in and out of bed, or with dressing etc etc etc.
The only benefit once diagnosed, because its a Cancer, is free prescriptions. Dental treatment is not free either.
Have a look on the Benefits Agency website it lists all benefits, and then if you click on each benefit it tells you what it is for and how to apply, etc.
I am hoping that during treatment, if side effects knock us for six and we cant even get out of bed, we will be able to claim benefits, but only someone who has or is going through treatment can answer that one.
Good Luck.

Hi Jimmy,
You might be better contacting CLL Ireland which is a group specifically for CLL’ers in Ireland who could give you advice specific to your area. Disability benefits differ across countries and I’m not sure if you’re from the North or South which could make a difference. Here’s a link which advertised their Patient Information Day. It may give you a chance to meet up with fellow CLL’ers in your area too for ongoing support.

There’s also an event upcoming in Cork in March I understand.
Here’s a link to their section on Disability Benefits;

That's what I throught I was doing very confusing.
This group is international, with people who can address specifics on some points in many countries, as well as addressing questions about universal CLL related issues.
See clli.ie for the group in Ireland.
They don't have one
Jimmy - The link above is to the group in Ireland. It is not an online group, like this one, but is a very active group, with workshops and information specific to Ireland. Irishcll (Michael) is the member here who started the group. He may contact you through Chat or you could message him on this site, using the name above, to find out more about what they have to offer. Members here can help with questions not specific to Ireland. If you include Ireland in your title or text, it will help you get answers more specific to your situation.
