To tell or not to tell ...

Hi Serra

I am so sorry for you , I understand the feeling of not wanting to share this with your husband. I had the same feeling, when I first heard I had CLL. My wife wasn’t with me when I found out and when I called her after my appointment, I couldn’t pull it off, it just came out. I wasn’t even sure what exactly CLL was , and so much was up in the air, the MD was going to take more tests that take weeks for giving o prognosis. The one thing I can tell you, it has definitely draw our family closer. I did also tell my 2 adult children. I’m a Christian, so that week, I was at a men’s group bbq, again, I was a private person, but it cane out, I was crying with the men , which was quite embarrassing, and of course I cried with my wife and children .

So my answer to you is I’m not going to be prescriptive and tell you what to do, but more descriptive and tell you how it went for me.

By the way, my wife, who I thought could never handle the news, actually did just fine.

You are in my prayers at this most difficult emotional time!

Hi Serra, not sure if you will get this. There is a fantastic booklet you can read about CLL called BLOODWISE that you can read on google, two types will show up ACUTE and CHRONIC.....it is the CHRONIC one you should read.

It is very very informative.

If you find you can’t tell your family do you have a close friend whom you could confide in, whatever you decide this site is very supportive and without it when my hubby was first diagnosed I’m not sure how I could have got through it.

I hope this helps, but do please try and read the leaflet it will certainly put your mind at rest.

BIG HUG

Susie
