While we’ve been seeing information on this for a while now and it is not directly related to CLL it shows the future creeping nearer. To me another step in the journey of hope for the future.

The deal is (as I understand it) for the small number of children who do not respond to more 'traditional' treatments such as chemo. Not surprising, given the cost - which remains forbiddingly high despite the NHS-negotiated discount.

But it has to be seen as good news - past experience shows that treatments become more affordable over time, and this is another weapon in the fight to overcome cancer.

In the meantime, a good number of new treatments have either been approved (by NICE in the UK) or are undergoing clinical trials, so the outlook is definitely more positive than it was only 5 years ago.
