Today is a sad day as my beloved Colin,passed away last night after his CLL relapsed and he had pneumonia. He is now,at peace after a 17 year battle with CLL. To all those with CLL, please be positive about living with it. Make the most of life, taking each day as it comes. Good luck for the future.

76 years and 10 months
On Pat, so so sorry. My oldest brother had CLL and he died at 76. My third brother had CLL and died at 66 and my mom had it and died at 75.
So happy he was given 17 years to be with you. God Bless you, prayers your way for you.

Pat, how difficult it must have been for you to share this news yet you manage to express your concerns for everyone on the CLL forum, reminding us all of what is important. Colin was very fortunate to have by his side someone as caring as you.

PS - I just went through and read all your posts. You are such a loving person and would have brought Colin much comfort and support as he was dealing with CLL through all the years. I wish you every comfort and peace in dealing with this loss.
So very sad, and it casts a pall over all the good that is accomplished here on this site. We all know the unfortunate reality, the sword of Damocles hanging over our heads everyday. We all know tomorrow is not promised, but this really drives it home by its unadulterated brutality.
While we are mostly anonymous to each other here, we are bonded by the insidious condition we share. When a sad event occurs, as it always invariably will, it affects us all. While CLL may be an indolent cancer for some for others it is not.
Pat, my deepest condolences and my thoughts and prayers are with you today.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I know it will be difficult for you for a good while to take the one-day-at-a-time alone. But, know that our hearts are laid bare by your news and that we are still here for you to touch base with should you want to do so.
May you and your loved ones take the steps of one-day-at-a time together and gather together as you are able to share the memories of life before CLL as well as some of the times that were good and brought laughter during the times that were rough.
Your first post told us that your relationship was one of allowing for the other to be with whatever situation to gather thoughts and then you came together to discuss. I love how that speaks of your strength as a woman and hope that strength helps you in the days ahead as you deal with the deep sorrow of loss.

Pat - I am so sorry for your loss. As Newdawn said, there really are no words to adequately express how each of us feels hearing this news, other than to repeat what others have said. You will always be part of the family and are welcome any time you feel the need to connect. I hope the good memories start to crown out the incredible pain you must be experiencing at the moment.
What a blessing the two of you have been to each other. Colin battled for 17 years but his battle was not fought alone for he had Pat by his side. That means so much and so much that it can not be put into words. I have read on the forum where some people post and the battle they fight is all on their own. This was not the case for Colin. And Yes, I try to stay positive living with it. It is a part of me but I try to make it a very small part. Thoughts and Prayers- STAY STRONG J.R.

Pat, thank you for your kind thought for all of us at such a time of loss. The word "beloved" tells us so much about Colin and what a successful life he lived in all the things that matter most. It must have been a great comfort to him to have you by his side and to know himself so very well loved. So glad for the time that you could be with one another. Prayers and love for you and your family in the hope that we will all see our lost loved ones again someday. Amazing how the departed one's love, even in the face of death, puts its arms around the living and keeps watch over us in our grief.
