Yes I'm in the same boat but unfortunately don't have any problems in gaining weight! It's certainly not a bad problem to have with type 2 diabetes. How is your control? Are you on meds?
I was diagnosed with diabetes 2 yrs after my CLL dx and I know it's not a great combination because diabetes can increase and exacerbate infection and CLL is happy to bring infection home to play! Important therefore to maintain good glycaemic control. A Hba1c as far under 48 as possible is very desirable and necessary.
Welcome to the site. I was diagnosed with cell and type 2 about 2.5 years ago now. Steadily increasing white counts, not rushing, circa 75 now and platelets dropped to circa 110. Diabetes not really behaved itself either or me that is progressively rose to max metformin and now transients top up, count is 62 and seems an upward trend.
Always wondered if one set of blood disorders effects the other as red blood cells down, not something many cells for the sugars to attach to, maybe that's why it's rising all latching on to a tee ducking number of cells. Doctors do not seem to correlate any issues, but as both make you tired, maybe double trouble on that front.
Have not really noticed any other issues with both illnesses in parallel, not yet anyway
Welcome to the club no-one wants to belong to - but it's very helpful and friendly here.
Type 2 well before CLL myself and my weight problem is the reverse of yours. Other knowledge though says focus on getting your diabetic control right. Keep to a healthy diet focusing more on protein and veg using healthier fats and enough of the more complex carbs for energy and to keep your blood sugar levels right. Occasional treats are ok whether of food or tipples but subject to the more personal guidelines that you should have been provided by your medics and also available from your country's Diabetic Association.
Many thanks to all of you,it's nice to know your not on your own, sounds like there are other people with the same issues, trying to balance the two,the diabetes tells you to watch what your eating and the cll seems to say eat more so you don't lose any more weight,I'm sure I'll get it under some sort of control eventually,I presume the white cell count going up each time I go to see the specialist is par for the course with cll ?
White cell count does rise - the slower the rate of rise - the longer till treatment is recommended usually. Symptoms are also part of the overall picture for this. This is where many of us start to wish we'd paid more attention to general good health advice but it's never too late to step up on this and it still makes a difference after diagnosis.
