I have been invited to a pottery workshop to make a couple of pots. At end of cycle 1 of FCR. Feeling great, but.... I suspect too much of a risk, even with gloves and mask... thoughts?
Pottery workshop.?: I have been invited to a... - CLL Support
Pottery workshop.?
Ooh. Not equipped to advise here at all being neither well versed in CLL or arty. My nearest brush with pottery was watching 'Ghost' and I'm no Demi Moore! Depending in your age you may not even know the film 😀
My gut instinct would be no. Only because I presume the clay will have been handled by many others? If you were to wear gloves, I feel that may take away from the lovely experience of that clay on your hands? And possibly a very wonky pot?!
If you do though, please be sure to post a pic!😀

I am a retired art teacher and used to work with clay quite often. Although I have never had treatment for CLL, I never had an issue with the clay. In fact , I was seldom sick while teaching as I washed my hands so often during the course of a day. I have worn surgical gloves while throwing on the wheel because I would get cracks in my finger tips. I did not have a problem wearing them so I think if you add a good dust mask, you may want to consider the fun you will have!!
I didn't go in the end because I remembered she had a few wonky practices such as very dusty floor, kiln in same room, drinks of coffee at work table. I will go later in the year as have so many ideas! In meantime I draw and paint at home or in class with a lovely healthy people who wash hands so often! The creative zone is my main therapy! My current project is 'people on my journey ' watercolour studies of people who have been supportive and lovely! What fun it is! If a bit amateur!
