This was the view of the late Dr. Hamblin about 6 years ago, based on the results of the CLL8 trial...

It is important to recognize that the del 11q patients now fall into this intermediate group. CLL8 has removed indecision as to whether they should be intermediate or high risk. If they are getting FCR they are at intermediate risk.

That was a meta analysis of 27 previously published papers.

As they point out in the conclusion, new small molecule treatments may change the relivance of the prognostic markers they looked at.
