My father is feeling extreme tired while taking Imbruvica, he almost finished 90 capsules and having gastro problems. Do you know how long will this tiredness last? and when we are going to see the good effects?

Common side effects with ibrutinib can be found if you search for details of the drug.

Both the side effects you mention are common.

You need to discuss with your fathers medics!

If you or they do not act these will continue.

Imbruvica (ibrutinib) can take time to work, often WBC counts go up in the first three months and then begin to slowly drop...

Discuss the fatigue and gastric problems with the treating doctor, they are common side effects...

Most side effects pass over time...

Cllcanada, just to be clear re: the statement "these are common side effects ... most ...pass over time."

Does the medical staff look into treating those side effects, or are patients supposed to just abide them until they pass?

(I don't have a dog in this fight, yet--but the it is unclear to me what is meant and may be to the ones experiencing the side effects.

It really depends on the side effect and the severity. All side effects need to be discussed fully with the doctor.

As an example...

Diarrhea is quite common, perhaps changing the time of day the pills will be taken may lessen the problem for example... if it is severe than there are a few approved treatments...

Imbruvica (ibrutinib) is still a VERY new treatment and many doctors aren't aware of problems unless you discuss it with them...

As with all treatments it is imperative to be very well hydrated...

Is your farher on other medications? They can cause side effects as well ...

Chimini .... I've been on imbruvica for 29 months and the fatigue has persisted - age 68 & male. I've found the best thing for the fatigue is to get horizontal for a bit. I can't do much physical work without really wearing out. For example, 30 minutes of weed-eating will do me in. I take my meds in the evening & digestive tract issues are minimal.
