I am experiencing pain in my right groin area. I can't feel an enlarged lymph node in that area and I don't have any other symptoms. I am on watch and wait and have not been in treatment yet. I also took a bad fall after slipping on ice about 10 days ago and I'm thinking I pulled a groin muscle. Anyone have any thoughts?
Groin pain.: I am experiencing pain in my right... - CLL Support
Groin pain.
It's hard to tell, but where you had a bad fall, and don't feel any nodes there, you may be right about the muscle pull. I'd certainly check with your primary care physician.
Usually it's the back from a slip on the ice, but if your legs took an odd stretch, a pull could possibly occur. A year ago I had groin pain for a bit without noticeable node swelling, but at the same time I was having node pain also in my neck, armpits and back so even though nothing came up on the scan, I merely attributed it to those mysterious symptoms that happen with CLL. Get it checked for your own peace of mind. In my case, even though nothing showed up, it was still a real pain and again, just chalk it up to CLL and move on. In my case, it subsided (thank God... it was painful) and life continued.
Hi,
The reason why I originally went to the doctors when I discovered I had CLL was because I had growing pain. I didn't know why I was having pain until I was told it was swollen nodes. I even had other test ran to rule out any other issue. The pain will come and go but it is definitely related to CLL.
Best Wishes

Strange: I too have experienced pain in the right groin, with no lymph node swelling. I will ask my oncologist when I see him in three weeks. Probably not related, but you never know!

I have had groin pain on both sides as well as pain going down my legs. Lyrica helped for a while, but I couldn't take the weight gain. I'm now on morphine for the pain. No one knows what it is from.
Hi Meesh:
Strange circumstances. Sorry it's so painful that you need to be on morphine. All the best to you.

I, too have groin pain. I starts at my groin and runs down my legs. I've been taking morphine for the pain (1 2x day 30 mg, and a break through 15 mg morphine when it gets out of control. The have never figure to what exactly this is caused from, but it seems when my legs and groin hurt, my counts aren't great either. Last night my whole body hurt so I took a break through and sent to sleep. '
I had groin pain but did have an enlarged node which was pressing on nerves. Enlarged nodes in my neck (also pressing on nerves) all returned to normal following FCR treatment and I have had no discomfort since.
However, you may just have done some damage when you fell which is causing the pain. Most of us on this forum are non-medics, so worth getting checked out by someone qualified.
Thanks for the replies. Spoke to my oncologist's nurse this morning. Since there are no other symptoms such as fever, night sweats, etc. and Advil does seem to help cut the pain, I'm going to assume it's the fall. My oncologist didn't seem to be too worried about it. I see her next month anyway. Why borrow trouble?
I think when you have cancer you are suspicious of anything new especially when you're on watch and wait. Sometimes it simply comes down to we're just getting older and age does bring change. I'm going to enjoy the holidays and worry about this next month. I hope you enjoy the season too.
Best,

I would be willing to bet you have vitamin d deficiency. That is a common symptom
Thanks Jill. I would agree. Last Vitamin D test ai was a 27. Under 30 is considered low. I take 4,000 mg of D3 every day. I also take B12 every day. Best to you.

Consider adding k2. There is a connection between this little known vitamin and cancer and diabetes. Read an article that claims sometimes increasing vitamin d without adding vitamin k1 and 2, not k3, will decrease your k levels and may cause more damage. Will search for the link and send it. Best.

Have you been tested?
You might have no intrinsic factor so the B12 is never taken into the body... certainly is my situation... I require monthly B12 injections...quite common
See your doctor... and follow their recommendations...
Been tested for vitamin D deficiency and I was low. Low is considered 30. I was 27. I take 4,000 mg of D3 daily. I also take liquid B12 daily along with green tea extract. Going to start taking calcium chews and Vitamin K2 also.
You can take buckets of oral B12 and if you have no intrinsic factor, IF, it is passed right through....
Get tested, and see where you levels are... many patients need monthly or bimonthy B12 injections...
This is a site with info and self test for vitamin D deficiency hawkeshealth.net/community/...
All CLL patients should be tested for Vitamin D, 25(OH)D is the test and while you are drawing blood... get B12 and folate levels checked...
Self testing... come on ... that's what my GP is for...
Don't count on it. I had to research and advocate to get the test to find my deficiency.
I have had a (25OH)D test every year since being diagnosed with CLL...18 years.. it is part of my annual check up... in Canada.
Recently some provinces in Canada have started to charge a small fee in low risk groups...
Sorry you have experienced problems...
The test
Hi Meesh:
Sorry to hear about your pain, but I suspect it has little to do with your CLL as I suspect mine does either. The unfortunate aspect of a CLL diagnosis and, in particular, "watch and wait", is the worry that every new ache or pain is somehow related and the constant fear that the cancer is progressing and treatment is nearby. We all probably go through this at one time or another.
I like to walk for exercise. I get these occasional groin pains and lately a lot of shin pain (splints) in my right leg. I believe it's more age and diet related and the occasional slip and fall than CLL. When I eat better, stretch and do all the right things, I feel better.
I don't want to make light of your pain. I would suggest you have your internist check you out if it will assure you that you're ok. My best advice to you (and myself) is to try not to over analyze your situation and definitely worry less.
We're all on this journey together but on our own individual paths. There are many people on this site with valuable knowledge and experience to share and it can be very helpful. Even so, you should always listen to your CLL specialist first. While we all mean well, most of us are not doctors.
All the best to you.
