Blood readings
CDs are 'clusters of differentiation'... they are proteins on B cells and they can vary in different types of lymphomas... yes CLL is a Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma subtype... not a true leukemia... very weird... to pathologists it is a lymphoma to hemaetologists it is a leukemia...
These clusters are identified with a blood test called a Flow Cytometry, and this test is used to separate CLL/SLL from other lymphomas, like marginal zone, Burkett's, follicular to name only a few...
Think of the CD5, CD19, and so on as a 'CLL fingerprint'...
Do you know what vaccinations you had? It is good to get all your vaccines up to date at diagnosis, since it will afford you the best protection...
