Is this a better way to develop new antibiotics?

Is this a better way to develop new antibiotics?

Ezekiel J. Emanuel is an oncologist and a vice provost at the University of Pennsylvania who has a suggestion on how we might overcome the growing problem of antibiotic resistant bacteria:

Will it work? Will it happen? What do you think?

I'd certainly be relieved to know that a growing number of new antibiotics was in the development pipeline. It would be rather ironic to have a great result from treatment for your CLL, only to succumb from an opportunistic bacterial infection that we couldn't fight due to our treatment lowered immune system and lack of suitable antibiotics.
