Day 1 of cycle 15 yesterday and continuing onwards and upwards :)

FBC looking good with Hg 153.00, WBC 6.7, RBC 4.71, ALC 1.8, platelets 118, neutrophils 4.1.

Biochemistry also good with LFT and Renal profile normal and GFR 84.00.

LDH 181.00 and B2M 2.4 (norm at Bournemouth lab 1.4 - 2.4)

Another CT scan in December, cycle 17, and possibly BMB depending on the result of the scan. Good news is that Bournemouth now have a new 'first in the world' Toshiba Aquilion One scanner:

medical.toshiba.com/product...

I was scanned on it in August. It gives the result in Dose Length Product (DLP). To find the Effective dose in millisieverts: E (effective dose) = DLP x coefficient K where K is the coefficient of the area scanned which I obtained from xrayrisk.com resulting in a dose of 18mSv plus the neck (0.0059 which I found elsewhere) 4.48 mSv, total 23 mSv.

So, over the period of the study I will have had 9 CTs and a PETscan which I haven't got the dose for yet but total will be 207+ mSv + PETscan. The guy at xrayrisk said he would add PET scan but hasn't yet.

Anyway, Ibrutinib continues to do it's best to put me into MRD negativity.

Best wishes to all, especially those in treatment and trials.

Hi Mikey47 - haven't been on this forum for some time now and I was just wondering how things are going on for you after the trial you were on - I used to be on the Leukaemia Care site and then the Macmillan site - my name is Caroline and I work at Southampton General Hospital. Best wishes anyway - just interested to know how things went along.

Hi Caroline,

I cancelled my notifications because I couldn't keep up with all the posts!!

I started Ibrutinib in September 2013 at Bournemouth. After one year all my blood counts had returned to normal and since September 2014 I've been leaading a 'normal' life. I had very few side effects after an initial period of diarrhoea and bruising.

The study was closed in May last year and we all went on to an extension study. I visit the hospital every eight weeks for blood draw and to collect drugs but I only see my consultant now at six monthly intervals, next consultation in June.

So, things have gone well and I don't spend much time here now, just pop in now and again to see what's going on with others.

Hope you are well, doesn't sound like you are up for treatment yet, long may it last.

Best wishes,

Mike
