How to copy and paste web/video links in to Posts/Questions

Here's an explanation of how to copy and paste a link to an interesting article or Youtube video into your post or question for this site.

I've covered three of the popular browsers: Google Chrome, Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox on a Windows 7 PC.

For my example, I'm using the URL (internet web address) for all the posts at this site:

"healthunlocked.com/cllsuppo...

healthunlocked.com/cllsuppo...

(I'm assuming that you have the address or link or youtube video displayed in another tab in your browser. You can of course write your entire article in a text editor like Notebook or Word and paste your links into the article, then paste the finished article into the Health Unlocked Post/Question text window. This is a good technique to use if you are likely to get interrupted (so you can save your article), aren't confident in posting or think you may get logged out.)

Pasting a link from a browser webpage

If the address you want to share is already in the address field of your browser, you just need to highlight the address (so it shows in inverse text), copy it, then paste it into your post/question.

Highlighting the address is the same in all browsers;

1) You can either "left click and hold" the mouse button to the right of the address and slide the mouse to the left until the entire address is highlighted, or

2) Triple left click the mouse in the address field, or

3) Left click in the address field and hold down the Ctrl key then press the A key (Crtl-A)

First copy the address by:

1) Keyboard: (Crtl-C)

2) Mouse: Right click, a menu appears. Select 'Copy' with a left click.

Then go to where you want to add in your address link in your post/question (use the cursor keys to position your cursor) and paste it:

1) Keyboard: (Crtl-V)

2) Mouse: Right click and when the menu appears, select 'Paste' with a left click

Pasting a link from a webpage link

Chrome

1) Move your mouse pointer to the link until the mouse pointer changes to a hand

2) Right click your mouse and select 'Copy link address' with a left click

Internet Explorer

1) Move your mouse pointer to the link until the mouse pointer changes to a hand

2) Right click your mouse and select 'Copy shortcut' with a left click

Firefox

1) Move your mouse pointer to the link until the mouse pointer changes to a hand

2) Right click your mouse and select 'Copy Link Location' with a left click

Pasting a link from a Youtube video - all browsers

1) Right click in the video

2) Left click 'Copy video URL'

If you want to save your audience from playing through to the area of interest, pause the video at the beginning of the segment of interest and:

1) Right click in the video

2) Left click 'Copy video URL at current time'

For all browsers, paste your link as described above.

When you preview your post/question, you'll notice that the address has been concatenated - not all the address is shown, but the browser can still go to the link if you click on it. As we saw above, our example link displays as

healthunlocked.com/cllsuppo... (but in blue to show we have a link).
