Pale coloured poo - sorry for picture

Hello, just looking for some advice really. My little girl has been having these pale coloured poos for about 2 weeks now. Over the last few months she been unwell with covid and then hfm and then a vomiting bug and now is full of a cold. She’s not herself at all and is constantly whinging/wanting to be held and isn’t eating much. Been to the gp who didn’t seem overly concerned about the colour but have sent some samples off and waiting for them to come back. Surely this colour isn’t normal? Has anybody had any experience of this? I am starting to worry it could be something to do with her liver 😩

Thank you in advance x

Hi Mhk94 , White, Grey or Pale stool is not good usually. Better to do Liver Function Test (LFT) post Doctor advice and check for any Liver issue.. Does your kid have jaundice?

Hello, yes I thought the same Lft’s, however the doctor didn’t seem concerned and didn’t even mention a blood test. No she hasn’t any jaundice. Currently waiting for a gp to ring us back. Thank you for your reply. Hoping to get her seen today

Hi if continously pale colour than definitely must be a liver issue please consult any other good gp who refer you to liver hospital asap. What is the age of your daughter?

Insist on LFTs asap, and if necessary a referral to a specialist liver unit. It's important to diagnose any liver issue quickly. (Pale poo is a classic sign; there are still GPs who seem unaware of this.) Many problems can be sorted if diagnosed in time, before the liver becomes damaged. I hope your little girl is ok - good luck :-)
