I'm interested to know if anyone on here is using turmeric either as the spice itself or in tablet form because it has good anti inflamatory effects and it is said to be good for the liver and digestive system.

Turmeric - Liver Disease (AIH)

I don't use it much because of the blood thinning properties. My daughter has portal vein hypertension so she's at risk for varicial (spelling doesn't work when I've not had enough coffee to awaken) bleeding. I used fresh ginger instead wheneverpossible for the soothing GI effect and immune system boosting.
Thank you Amyp79
I didn't know about the blood thinning. I haven't used for her yet but I am trying the tablets for myself and arthritis in my fingers.
Usually run things past her consultant first 😊 I do know that milk thistle is not good for patients with cirrhosis.
Will try some ginger.
Thankfully her varices have been obliterated but I always worry they may return - slippery Bugger is the liver 😝
Best wishes to you and your daughter.
I use the spice as part of my normal cooking ingredients. Being British but family are Maltese use this spice a lot. Now I've read more about tunimic I'm using it eithen more. I can't hurt!
