CLDF is based in the UK, and the American medical system is very different from the NHS in the UK which is possibly why you haven't had any replies yet as I'm unsure how many international patients use this group.

Over here I believe you would go back to your GP and ask whether or not a second opinion was required and then request a new referal to a different hospital. There are three hospitals in England that specialise in paediatric hepatology and they are quite far apart so usually over here you are allocated to a particular service due to catchment area.

I hope this helps and I hope you find what you need soon.

All the very best

We are in the UK and my daughter has AIH. When she was first diagnosed we were given all the results from her blood tests and it showed the level she was and the range of what a 'normal' range should be. It was obvious from the readings that there was something wrong. We don't get this detailed print out every time but I always use this as a reference guide.

Can I ask why you are wanting a second opinion? What symptoms does your son have?

When the first hospital run the test for hepatitis he came out negative, after the biopsy the hematologist from the second hospital said according to her findings in the liver she thinks it is Aih. That makes MN e nervous on the medicine because I know it has a lot of side effects and also because both drs said there is a high percentage of liver diseases that they don't get to find out what causes it. What exactly do u look at to be sure but is Aih? Thanks for your previous answer
