Did your GP refer you to a lipid clinic? I would have thought that your GP would have given you guidelines to follow to reduce it. You also need to know the HDL, LDL, and triglycerides and the form of cholesterol you have before prescribing treatment/drugs etc.
Ask to see the dietician when they visit your GP - that should be fairly quick and you can get 25 percent reduction even if it's a fairly resistant high cholesterol, I think. There's the Ultimate Cholesterol Lowering Plan diet on the main heart UK website, too.
Get the recommended amount of exercise - take up walking, cycling, swimming, an exercise class or something else not too hard.
Ask to be referred too.
Have you been given all the information about diet and exercise, if you can't get it from your Doctor ring your trust to have it sent - there is a lot of it.
Try beetroot, its excellent.
