When I went for my last lipid assessment, I was advised to take the ETT which I am doing next Monday pending my next clinic appointment in early August. They will then tell me my cholesterol type and prescribe the correct medication. I was last diagnosed 25 years ago with hyperlipidaemia and am taking one 400g Bezalip Mono tablet per day.

So what's your question?
It wasn't a question, it was just a statement and I thought that maybe someone might comment on the EET.
ok, cool - next time, try writing a blog, rather than using the "Ask a question" link? That will make it clearer and appear in the right bit of the newsletters and so on.
As for the EET, I think that is what my father did and had a second heart attack a few days after, but I'm not sure and that was in the dark ages for FH compared to now!
Thanks for your reply Traci. I think they want to check if my heart is functioning correctly in order that they can best prescribe the medication I should be using. Not sure about that, but just wondered if anyone had any experience of the EET?
Hansi, the exercise test is basically them taking an ecg whilst putting your heart under strain, ire making you exercise. They basically bob you on a treadmill and incrementally increase the speed. The idea being that they can see if there is any evidence of coronary artery disease.
If it came back positive and suggested there may be some myocardial ischaemia they would be likely to progress to an angiogram to get more detailed information. Sounds like they're checking you thoroughly which is great. I have done a few ' exercise tests' before, it's really nothing to worry about, I hope out goes well for you.
Not sure if this helps but thats my experience with this test and my understanding of what they are looking for.
Thank you. I'll post the results.
Make sure you have comfortable walking/running shoes on as I didn't know they were going to do that with me and they had to literally lift me off so I didn't fall. It didn't help that I was struggling to move my legs easily anyway and was part of the reason I was there.
