55 female, post meno, non smoker, low BMI and no other health issues but recent Afib issues (last year).I also have a small benign tumour and some white matter around it that has increased slightly, which MRI indicates is indicative of chronic microvascular disease.
I am waiting for an ablation for Afib and the echo had showed some thickening on left artery as well (moderate sclerosis) . I have been having some breathing ussues but off and on, chest pain but it’s quick and sharp. Tends not to last more than seconds and same for headaches.
My good cholesterol is fine my LDL is a little elevated but my LPA is showing 199 mnol/l.
For those that have high LPA , have you had any success using natural products or supplements to reduce it.
Any advice for me?
I’m waiting for a CT scan of my heart, MRI of Brain and referral to a cardiologist. In the meantime, if there’s something that anyone recommends that I could research and consider, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Yes here as well. my good cholesterol is great , my HDL slightly high. My doctor thought they may charge me for the LDA. I didn’t even know she had requested this and was surprised when she called me in to explain it. It’s a deeper dive look and you can ask for this most likely but again may have to pay.
Hi Krissy! It sounds great that you are going to get further tests and examinations and I hope these are helpful to you. I found out recently I also have high lp(a), though all other markers are fine. The general advice seems to be to try and get one's overall LDL cholesterol as low as possible and to reduce saturated fat. Here in the UK, the level of LDL cholesterol to aim for is 2.5 mmol /L or below. The Canadian Heart Patient Alliance has the recommended levels of LDL-C here:
Hello again Krissy, and pleased to hear from you and thank-you so much for replying. My LDL is at 3.5 and my LP(a) is 127.5. I'm seeing my GP at the end of the month (earliest I could get an appointment!). I think he will prescribe a statin. In the meantime I'm trying to avoid saturated fat as much as possible and continue to eat the whole food, mainly plant-based diet (no meat, some fish) that I've eaten for the last fifty years - but now minus the cheese! The high LP(a) came as a shock, despite my best efforts. Thank-you so much for the FB info - have applied to join a group.
Satins can increase your LDL so please do research . I will post a video if I can find it on this.
Also trying to go plant based has been intimidating but after some online cooking classes and trying new foods that I didn’t know how to cook with ie tofu has been life changing .
