Hello Everyone,

My fiance was gardening on june 27 2018 he noticed his arm went numb, eyes blurry, & a headache.. He had not been to a doctor in forever, not since i new him almost 5 years. He is an active 58 year old business owner, father to many amazing #doggies, loves music, reading & me! He did not know what happend & was hesitant to tell me about it. I finally got him to talk about i, once he gave me symptoms i started googling instantly. It was either hyperglycemia due to his high blood pressure or TIA (mild stroke) is what I thought. We bowl in a league which was on the day this happened, of course he bowled but wasn't feeling the best.. I kept googling and mentioning my findings to him which he was very annoyed with me. We went home i'm still mildly hounding him and very sad crying thinking he would not go to the doctor and i had a bad feeling about this. Long story short i convinced him to go the next day, he wanted to go alone so i waited to hear the results. They gave him every test possible and came back with high percentage of his blood was heart attack tainted blood so they checked him in that same afternoon. Scheduled stent surgery for the next morning wow.. So what he had was a mild heart attack and blood pressure 180.. If he had not gone in it could have been fatal. He had the stent surgery they went through his arm and placed one stent. Put him on 3 different meds i will get the names for you but luckily his sister & brother in law are doctors in another state and were very familiar with the meds..The brother in law had treated several patients bad after effects on the one of the pills prescribed so we were able to get a different one & it was much less expensive. I will get more specific info and post on my post for others to see as it could be helpful. A tiny history my fiance never did drugs only advil or tylenol for headache, drank moderately after 30 -40 years old, loves pasta and italian food, successful business owner of 20 plus years in the rock concert biz about 45-50 lbs overweight. #Stress came in high amounts with money usually being the cause, stressful memployees/friends, me unfortunately argued a bit i guess i didn't hold in my stress inside but he kept most of his stress inside, which is not good. So he is holding up ok, having some #anxiety most of which he does not share with me, the pills make him feel loopy at times, nauseated, but are doing there job of lowering his blood pressure. Along with completely changing eating habits, quit alcoholic drinks, sugar, carbs, cut stress down somewhat but a long road ahead on that stress. I think he fears what could happen and I felt guilty for ever hounding him or arguing with him or stressing him out many times. I am a #believer in #Faith #JesusChrist & my Father in heaven. Which gives me hope in many situations. He knows God but has a tough time believing as much as I do, therefore he lets his thoughts and fears run wild which is not good. i have made efforts and will keep making efforts too pray with him aloud instead of just privately.I know it gives him some comfort. He went for recheck last week and his blood pressure was down to 120.. Lastly he didn't get any time to research the stent which was the Sterling newest version he did not realize it was giving him doses of medication. I read everything i could on everything he was going through which is how i came across this group. We are still scared but hopeful. After reading several stories and researching, he can have a long healthy rest of his life as long as he keeps eating #healthy #exercising and #notstressing. I don't think he should have to take pills after the 6 months I'm hopeful because the after effects are nit good on these pills.

Thank You for posting and i wish you all positive hopeful thoughts,

Prezentz

I've had both bypass surgery and 4 stents inserted afterward. Stents are no big deal, bypass surgery is. It is important to maintain a clean diet avoiding all sugar and simple carbs, and minimizing red meat to once a every 2 weeks or so. You want to avoid the bypass surgery.

I get blood-work every 3 months to monitor all levels.

Blood clots and an inflammatory diet and lifestyle are what cause heart attacks and strokes so measure myeloperoxidase (MPO), fibrinogen and homocysteine, as well as triglycerides during next blood test.

Mediterranean Diet is best for permanent dietary changes.

From my experience of family members, medication is very important after stent, food intake control is also very important with regular exercise, most of my relatives enjoyed long walks.

Hello! Sounds pretty scary, but let me tell you I have a medicated stent since 2012 - and I am doing fine. Like you said . . daily low dose aspirin, his meds especially the statin - which some don't like, healthy eating, exercising and getting a check up with his cardiologist he should be fine. Also, don't neglect to go to the ER if he has symptoms - even if he finds out afterward that he was fine - don't fool around with that! That's really important!! Good luck!
