Could be either, you can still have a normal range BP and experience angina (I'm a registered nurse). I would advise you see your GP before exercising again, just in case.

Probably stressed out by trying to do too much but I would still get it checked out as you just never know.

Middle age. That covers a wide age group.Sounds like you do a lot of exercise, which is good for you,but can also put a lot of strain on the internal workings of the body.Is your exercise regime balanced with a good nutritional regime?Would agree with the other comments. If in doubt consult your gp to be on the safe side

I assume that you went to your MD and made sure that all was well. If so, then perhaps it is more to do with your lifestyle and not your health. Do you do a stressful job? Are you working long hours? Do you eat good, fresh, non processed food? Do you watch your sugar intake? You say you exercise regularly, then perhaps you should cut back on the heavy exercise and just, literally, walk every day! You say you are quite happy walking in the cold - great, but don't treat it as some sort of expedition or competition against the elements! Look about you, take a camera and photograph your surroundings. Get to grips with your environment and enjoy your walk, it is supposed to be a pleasure not an endurance! The endorphins that rise in your body when you exercise will not be happy if they are expected to compete with your iron will! Let them relax you, calm your heart rate, relax your muscles and ease your mind. Best wishes to you.

Standard reply no 1. If in doubt see your GP.

Don't mess with chest pain. I'm a first aider but would not dare give a medical opinion, cos I have no medical training. We're all great at sharing experience and that's as it should be. But we're not medics, unless stated like Currentbun. Best to go with a false alarm than not go and find it's too late. :)

18f is b***** cold. Some of us forget it's - 8 or so in centigrade

Hello,

Angina?, why?

Temperature inside the house can be 23deg c and outside 8deg c, change in temperature can give some pain during breathing, this is from experience, I am not a medical person. I am an engineer.

In a TV programme one doctor mentioned that during heavy snow in UK, the ER or (A&E) get a lot of people with heart problems, the reason is "SNOW SHOWELING"!!

People do not realise the strength and energy required to do snow clearing.

Were you involved in snow clearing?

When one is on a treadmill one can look at the hear rate from start to finish including cool down. There are values given in the machine on heart rate for different age group.

For me age 67, when I start is it 88 and I can take it up to 134 while I am on the treadmill, 134 is after 30 minutes. During cool down the numbers come down slowly at the end of 5 minutes it can be in the mid 90s for me. Different people have different values. You can have a check, if your heart rate at start is very high and the numbers are going up and down very badly you need to address it.

If your BP is normal, what is normal to you?

Cold raises blood pressure. That is one reason it is dangerous for older people, many of whom don't heat their homes sufficiently because of the expense. Get checked by your GP. As already said by others it is best not to take the risk of ignoring your symptoms. I hope everything works out well for you.

it could be asthma if it was very cold. But the best thing is to go to a GP and ask for a referral to the chest pain clinic.

All,

Some time I wonder "why?", some questions are asked.! Five days gone the person who asked the question has not come back. Have seen this before, at the end of the day very interesting discussion on "CLOD" situations!
