Hi all,
Just before I head home for Christmas, just watched the Hairy Bikers,; coming home for Christmas.
If you aren't up on British TV, the Hairy bikers are two middle aged guys, the best of friends, who cook (and eat!) some amazing food.
Sadly a year or so back, Dave Myers had a cancer diagnosis, and he's been working on his health.
It is some tribute to his efforts, and those of medical professionals, that he's now back able to be back on two wheels, though it is noticeable what a trauma this has been on him.
I found the show absolutely a joy to watch, and the best thing I will see this year. They set out to make a Christmas feast for those who had helped Dave toward recovery. And they nailed it....
it made me feel better about my own struggles this year, because he showed such calm grace in the face of adversity, and left me in tears at one point.
Its easy to get bogged down in excess at this time. Mrs CB works in a supermarket, Strewth, you would not believe they were only closed a day. Lots of people buying way too much, spending money they might not have, so much will be will be wasted, and will Christmas be any better? No.
We are having a very tiny Christmas this year. Just want Mum and Dad CB, brother CB, and Mrs CB. and a bit of dinner. Presents are not needed. Just the company of the nearest and dearest.
And even so, I will still have so much more than a lot of people in world. Ukraine is still at war. As is the Holy Land. God must be furious at both sides.......
So despite trouble, Dave Myers is right. Little is often good, and we can still be blessed. When you have little, or have struggles, but offer everything, it is often more appreciated. It clearly meant the world to him to prepare that feast, and the strength of his friendship with his fellow biker also was obvious.
So whatever your struggles, Peace to you, to your family, and when we get back, lets all work on making the world and 2024 a more peaceful and healthier one than 2023 gave us.
And a big like to the Hairy Bikers and their team for giving me just the most joyous bit of TV I've seen in ages......
