Finally, I get the chance to join a community of like-minded people! I'd love to get acquainted with you and meet as many of you as I can. I am pretty sure we can all form a community of friends/brothers/sisters who can support each other in the face of social uncertainty! Myself, I have a cranial disfigurement I have struggled with for many years sharing with people of all kinds. However, my concerns come back from time to time and this is where I think the community can make a difference in the way I see this problem revisiting once again.

So, thanks for welcoming me to the community, I hope we can get in touch soon!

Hi Solocat and welcome! You've definitely come to the right place. I think the visible difference community is amazing and I'd say it is the reason why I have been able to embrace my differences and love being who I am. It's great to know you're not alone and I hope it is able to make a difference in your life too!🙂

Thank you for such a warm welcome, AlwaysSmiling! I hope I can meet many people here and participate with all in this wonderful community experience. Again, I never thought there could be a community like this where all bias and prejudice about physical appearance are knocked down to help us see and discover our real selves through external or perceived differences. This is the place!!! 😀

Thank you, PB58!

I hope to hear a lot from you all as well. I had always checked the Changing Faces website but never thought about joining in. However, sometimes, or all of the time, we need more than just reading a couple of tips: we need to feel part of a community where we can contribute, share our differences, and treat and be treated beyond our externalities.

As we learn to do this and do it on a constant basis, we learn to cope with our own physical differences, support others who are struggling, and feel more confident in a society full of fears and biases. When somebody stares at you, this person is not only being curious, they are also asserting a superiority power relation; as for us, we need to know our rights and our intrinsic value. This is just the beginning, but what a glorious one!

Hi Solocat and welcome to the community! Glad to see you're receiving a warm welcome already. Hope you'll enjoy connecting with others :-)

Take care

Tiffany

Awesome Whizzy! We are the newbies! I like it a lot here; people speak from their hearts and with all honesty. We don't have to leave words out anymore and we can share our fears and hopes! Welcome too!
