Finally, I get the chance to join a community of like-minded people! I'd love to get acquainted with you and meet as many of you as I can. I am pretty sure we can all form a community of friends/brothers/sisters who can support each other in the face of social uncertainty! Myself, I have a cranial disfigurement I have struggled with for many years sharing with people of all kinds. However, my concerns come back from time to time and this is where I think the community can make a difference in the way I see this problem revisiting once again.

So, thanks for welcoming me to the community, I hope we can get in touch soon!

I think the visible difference community is amazing and I'd say it is the reason why I have been able to embrace my differences and love being who I am. Again, I never thought there could be a community like this where all bias and prejudice about physical appearance are knocked down to help us see and discover our real selves through external or perceived differences. I hope to hear a lot from you all as well. I had always checked the Changing Faces website but never thought about joining in. However, sometimes, or all of the time, we need more than just reading a couple of tips: we need to feel part of a community where we can contribute, share our differences, and treat and be treated beyond our externalities.

As we learn to do this and do it on a constant basis, we learn to cope with our own physical differences, support others who are struggling, and feel more confident in a society full of fears and biases. When somebody stares at you, this person is not only being curious, they are also asserting a superiority power relation; as for us, we need to know our rights and our intrinsic value. This is just the beginning, but what a glorious one!
