I’m in the process of healing and have terrible facial scars but luckily healing well. I am seeing a consultant about Camoflage makeup but was told I would have to pay for this on my “prescription” soo I assume it comes under the nhs. I’m kinda confused.
Due to myself being on benefits, I don’t pay for my prescriptions. Does anyone know if I would still have to pay for the makeup prescription?
Many thanks in advance 😊

If your consultant has already written you a prescription, you'll pay whatever you usually pay for this - so if you're entitled to free prescriptions then it won't cost you.
If they've written you a prescription request form (the form you take to your GP for approval, not the prescription itself) then it'll depend where in the UK you're based, as different regions have different policies about whether they'll approve prescriptions for skin camouflage products. In this case it's worth speaking with your GP about what their CCG's policy on 'borderline substances' is (this is the category skin camouflage products come under).
I had to pay for the consultation as it was not covered under the NHS but all of the products were free under the NHS. Having said that the scar on my face has healed pretty well so I don’t use it any more.
