Reporting breach of guidelines

Dear Changing Faces community members

I understand that some of you were contacted by private messaging from someone conducting research into facial disfigurement. We at Changing Faces HQ are sorry to hear that this has happened and offer our heartfelt apologies. As mentioned by my colleague in response to the post by a member here saying the site is not safe, "Changing Faces does not share private data with any third parties. The private message you received goes against both our terms of use and the terms of use of HealthUnlocked, and we will be working to avoid this happening again."

Unfortunately, there are a few individuals who join the site solely for their own commercial or research purposes despite this being against the community guidelines. This can't always be helped because no one knows what they are up to until they post. In our experience they tend to publish their posts out of hours when the site is not being moderated e.g. weekends. I mention this just so that you are aware. As a member of this community, you can report any breach or inappropriate use of the site to HealthUnlocked and/or administrators who will take prompt action. Always remember that it is your space and feel free to own it in accordance with the guidelines. Changing Faces administrators do not have to access private messages between members, therefore we rely on individual members to report any inappropriate messages received. I would encourage everyone to please familiarise yourself with the community guidelines if you have not already done so. They are pinned on the community homepage and can be found at healthunlocked.com/changing.... Do feel free to private message any of the administrators if you'd like to. We are people just like you and always open for a chat. You can also reach us by emailing support@changingfaces.org.uk

Remember that Changing Faces is a charity whose aim is to campaign and to help individuals who are living with conditions, marks or scars that affect their appearance, whether on the face or body lead full, satisfying lives through our emotional support and skin camouflage services. This platform is one of the several means that we use to further our purpose. We are not a profit-making organisation and neither Changing Faces nor HealthUnlocked share your information with other individuals or organisations. We hope you are reassured that we genuinely care about you and your wellbeing in this community, and that you continue to share and care for one another as you've being doing amazingly well over the past 12 month since our relaunch.

Wishing you a wonderful 2020, Dola
