A potential scam warning

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to alert all of you in UK to one of the latest scam texts doing the rounds, because it's a relatively clever one and one which we might all stop and think we needed to do.

It purports to be from the NHS and is a reminder to 'claim' our 'Covid pass'. It goes as follows:

NHS: We noticed you haven't applied for your Covid Pass. Follow the link to complete registration and avoid penalties.

A link follows which presumably, if used, will attempt to make you part with information and/or your money, so please be aware that there is no need to 'claim' your Covid certificate. It is available to view and use through the NHS app. and of course there is no penalty involved at all for not accessing one, so if you receive this or anything similar, DON'T click on the link.

Thank you for sharing that information Callendersgal. I have the NHS app and know not to believe texts etc. that purport to be from them. I’d hate anyone to be caught out. I’ll let family know of this latest scam. Thank you again. Xxxx👍❤️💜

Thanks for the info, the text I had last week says

We have identified that you are eligible to apply for your Covid Pass, you can apply this here, followed by a link, I haven't clicked as I'm unsure if genuine or not, I'm happy to let you have the phone number it came from as well

A neat little variation Jennymary and a really wise move not to click on the link!👍

The health service would send you a letter by post not send out texts.

No not necessarily, I get reminders etc often by phone message. So it can be very confusing. Biggest clue tends to be that the NHS uses your name whereas these artists just send random messages without any name.
