How was your week, and what are you going to do this Bank Holiday, the last one of the Summer?
If you can bare with me, I would like to tell you about my recent few weeks and how sad I have been feeling but how uplifting today has been. Recently I lost a good friend, he hadn't been ill very long and was disabled all his life. However he was never down (wouldn't allow himself to be) and always made the best of his life. His recent life threatening illness came only a few short weeks ago and then he left us, richer for having known him. The reason I mention it today is that his funeral was this morning and although sad and poignant it was a happy affair as he wanted us to celebrate his short life, wear bright English football colours (red and white) and talk about his quirky humour and anecdotes. We laughed a lot among the tears and I think he would have liked that. In fact I know he would!
I share this with you because it made me happy and grateful I was part of his life, and to realize there is always a rainbow if you look for it.
Thank you for letting me share this with all you lovely caring members.
Have a lovely week end what ever you are going to do, and do share with us how you are feeling.
Best wishes,
MAS Nurse.

Hello MAS_Nurse, I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of your dear friend. He seems to have touched many during his short life which is more than most can say. It seems as if he would have approved of his funeral and appreciated everyone who attended. Thank you for sharing such an inspirational story.
We’re off to a nearby food festival tomorrow with family and it’s meant to be a glorious day for it. Not sure what we’ll do with the rest of the weekend but we’ll think of something.
Had a good week this week and took friends to lunch today to celebrate a birthday.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone and be as well and happy as you can. Take care xxxx😘
Sounds like you’ve had quite a week, sounds like your friend’s end of life came fast and that you did lots to help him.
I was quite busy with physio, blood tests and got discharged by the fracture clinic after a broken shoulder. Consultant wanted me to continue with physio as my body takes longer to heal with all my other issues to get full movement back. Physio rang me for an update and said I’m not going to get any better movement, think the consultant knows better. I’m going to continue with the exercises myself and see how I get on. Don’t like being written off, but I’m going to keep at it.
Try and enjoy the weekend as best as you can, it was quite an inspiring story. 😀
Thank you so much for sharing that with us MAS_Nurse. A short life lived positively is worth many lifetimes passed in perpetual pessimism. I think the trouble is, we all imagine we have time, and time isn't really a privilege that comes with the gift of life. We wish away the bad bits and often forget to celebrate the good. I suppose it's a coping mechanism so we aren't worrying about death all of the time, but really, lots of people seem to assume they will live forever. So it's all about balance which your late young friend so obviously had.
It's not possible to sidestep the grief that comes with the loss of a loved one, but if you can manage to remember all the happy times, it must be of help.
I won't even bother you with my trivial week. Enough to say that I've managed to make it to the end of another one, and sometimes, that's enough.
Thank you for sharing this with us. It sounds as if your friend made a real impression on those who knew and loved him.
It's my husband's birthday so we are going out for a meal with friends tonight and then off to the seaside on Sunday, his birthday, with our little dog. It will be lovely to get a bit of fresh sea air.
I wish everyone on the site an enjoyable bank holiday whatever you will be doing.
Thank you for your good wishes and kind thoughts. It sounds like some of you will be able to make the best of this lovely weather we will have over this Bank Holiday weekend.
