Change.org petition for Care Home staffing ratios.

Hi again everyone,

I've already posted once today, so sorry for 'hogging' our forum, but I just received an email from a website I sometimes use, called Change.org.

And it's asking for support for a petition to government to introduce a minimum staff/patient ratio in every Care Home, so I thought it might be relevant to our group and worth a look.

I'm not sure how well persuaded I am that all petitions do much good, but this one seems worthwhile and if it gets enough signatures to go before parliament, will at the very least, focus attention on some of the neglect that can occur in Care Homes when they are under-staffed.

You can reach the website at change.org and search for the relevant petition by typing Care Home staffing ratios into the search box.

Instructions on how to sign it are given if you wish to do so. The site usually asks you to donate something to keep it going, before you can sign, but this is purely voluntary and you can choose to share the petition with others instead, rather than give.

Hi, just enjoyed reading your post about trains. It brought back many happy memories for me. We used to look at the train map at our local station and me and my sister used to choose a place to visit every so often during school holidays. We used to take ourselves off and do the most lovely day trips. We thought nothing of going off for the day aged 13 and 11 to York (over 150 miles away from where we lived). Travelling was cheap and cheerful and above all, we felt safe. I also remember the lovely roaring fires in the cosy waiting room. Thank you for bringing back those thoughts. I will also sign the petition in your latest post.

That's great FredaE. Sounds a sensible one to me, especially when I heard it's already law in some other countries.
