i am caring for my 78yr old mother, cooking, cleaning, doctor & hospital appointments etc. She has Diabetes, Osteoporosis & possibly the early stages of Dementia. I also work part time & have my own house & duties to do so it is very hard trying to do all this. Do you think i could get some sort of carers allowance.

Apply and if you don't fit the criteria DWP will soon let you know and you could well be entitled to this allowance, because you sound to be spending a lot of time caring for your Mum, so I would advise you to apply as you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Good Luck. You are doing a good job, but remember to take time out for yourself too. xx

Your Mum is almost certainly entitled to Attendance Allowance especially if she also has Dementia. You need to be certain of this but with her other conditions she is not a well woman anyway? You too should be entitled to Carers Allowance as long as you are not claiming your pension. Look at the government website or go to Citizens Advice they will help you.
