Hello deltec,Yes I have loud noise mainly the right side since February . I have been seen in the ent clinic and diagnosed with tinnitus . I have had various tests and there seems little help for tinnitus . It’s very upsetting trying to cope with this condition . Reading all the letters on this forum has made me realise that we are not alone , that’s for sure

Hello deltec . Sleeping isn’t too bad as I feel a bit worn out with it all .

I was wondering if there is anyway of technology being able to do an assessment of our noise levels in our heads/ears . If I walk around and do things it feels like my head might explode. If I rest and do nothing then it settles a bit . Sometimes I just cannot cope . Can you cope?

I have had an m.r.i scan and a CT scan . I had to pay for the mri scan myself ( due to delays with Covid) tests . Tests haven’t revealed anything structural . My next port of call has to be these Tittinus clinics . Have you been anywhere with yours ?

is the reference here to CBT or CBD as I don't think you can "take" CBT?

I have tinnitus in my left ear. It varies in volume. Have had it for six months and have an ENT appointment in the New Year. I’m learning to adapt to the noise slowly. Hope yours is not too intrusive.

Me too, sudden onset mainly in left ear in late 2018 a few days after increasing my Citalapram dose as prescribed although nobody in the medical profession will admit it could be iatrogenic - my GP told me tinnitus isn't a side effect of Citalapram until I insisted it was one of the side effects at which point she checked MIMS and, I quote, said "OH" and now insists that as the tinnitus has not subsided even though I stopped taking the Citalopram shortly after the tinnitus started then the cause must be something else - even though where tinnitus is caused by an ototoxic agent there is evidence that aural nerve damage and thus the ensuing Tinnitus may be permanent - doesn't exactly give confidence in the medical profession does it? I hope you find a way of dealing with your tinnitus but expect to just have to get used to it and make the necessary adjustments in your life to be able to cope with it - it contributed towards my having to retire early from work. One thing I would say is that they usually like to have some MRI results with unilateral sudden onset tinnitus to rule the existence of a mass causing the condition so get yourself into your ENT ASAP just to get that out of the way. BTA seems singularly uninterested in championing the training of GPs to ensure that patients are warned ahead of taking ototoxic drugs and will also (mistakenly in my experience) tell you that you'll eventually get used to the tinnitus and will no longer notice it - leaving people like me feeling as if the fault is mine for not being able to tune it out. Sorry to be so blunt but it seems that there's largely nothing that can be done and a closing of ranks within the medical and support services around discussion of cause - support groups like this are about the best support.
