Hi everyoneEarlier this week I got a bad ear infection and urgent care think I may have burst my eardrum too, I have a Cookie Bite Hearing Loss which has been causing me to have tinnitus since I was about 14 so for about 6 years now but I've found that my tinnitus is worse since I got the infection especially on the side of the infection and I've also had terrible vertigo, I'm also going crazy not being able to wash my hair so if anyone has any tips on that as well then send them my way 😂

Hi Lilmix03 I'm sorry you got T so young. Hopefully your tinnitus will settle down as the infection clears up. You might want to mention the vertigo to your GP. Always best to have these things checked out. It's good for hair not to wash it too often because shampoo can strip away all the natural oils. Your hair will be all the better for it. If it really bothers you .. you can get dry shampoo in Boots.
Hello - just wondering if you were given anything for the infection? Did they say it was a bacterial or viral infection? If it is viral you should be given steroids as soon as possible to stop any long term affects. Hope you get it sorted soon x
Hey I have a hole in my ear drum (a hole not a tear) since I was young. Surgery to repair when I was 17 didn’t work and now I’m 42 so I’ve been living with this a long time. You definitely can wash your hair in the shower. I don’t use anything as water generally doesn’t go down the ear hole but you can always use some cotton wool. I have had a couple of infections in that ear and sadly now I’m finding tinnitus getting worse - and very likely due to hearing loss. It’s more likely to be further hearing loss that’s making the tinnitus worse and if like me you have a hole and not a tear it’s possible it can get larger. I’m seeking help at this point and suspect I’ll be given hearing aids to help combat tinnitus (and improve hearing loss) but also my ear is quite waxy so I wondered if that was an issue. Best to go see a specialist again as they can look into it.
how are you?
