I’m so sorry you’re still struggling. I was told colomycin is preventative rather that a cure. The pseudomonas needs to be knocked on the head in the first place. It seems my doc was correct in your case. I’m sorry I know this isn’t much help as your doctor refused more antibiotics. That said if they are fitting a port it does suggest they are going to try some more treatment. X
Mooka, the nebulized Colistin, Albuterol and saline finally caused me to get Candida in my mouth, and now a sinus infection. I am off the Colistin for 28 days. But have Pseudomonas(which they r not treating w antibiotics) and Aspergillis and Hylane Mould now as well. On Vorconzole very strong drug will be for some time I think. The mucas is so thick and often green especially w the new sinus infection. I read the Dr's dont tell u u can get Candida in the mouth from nebulized antibiotics.
Have u experienced any of this? Also do u think it is safe to use a cool air humidifier in the bedroom w eucalytus to help me breath at night. The air is so dry. HOpe u r doing well and are u still on the Colistin and is it helping?
Hi Lapis5 I'm so sorry to hear you are having these problems. I haven't had candida in my mouth from the colistin. I have suffered for most of my adult life with candida when on antibiotics but not from the colistin. When my pseudomonas was found it was during an operation on my sinuses to open them up, so its likely the pseudomonas it what's causing your infection. I used Neilmed sinus rinse daily to get rid of the gunk. You should try to get this under control or it will go to your lungs.
If the humidifier helps then I would go for it. If you are very bunged up holding your head over a bowl of hot water with eucalyptus could also help. I can't understand why you are not on any antibiotics at the moment as the pseudomonas wont go away on its own.
I'm doing okay at the moment. I've been told that my Ig levels are increasing and so its possible I'm starting to make my own.
I wish you all the best I know how wretched this will be making you feel.
