Is anyone taking this? I had 2 weeks of pik line iv w Ceftasine and still infected . .so on Cipro 750 that helped some, but the Dr. on call only called in 500mg and it is not helping .

I have mucas flooding 24/7, not green now but thick.

Total exhaustion and wheezing.

I 'm wondering how long u can take this drug? Could it be for mos at a time? as they only other thing they offer me is another pik line and i did not toterate the Tobramycin.

I was on cipro on and off for months before I had iv antibiotics. I think the longest time I was on it was four weeks in one go. Eventually I got to the point when I stopped taking it the infections came back. I had two week of two lots of ivs and have nebulised colomycin ever since. Cipro is the only oral antibiotic that works against pseudomonas. There are other iv antibiotics that they could try. I hope you get sorted soon.

I’m immune deficient so my consultant wanted to hit it hard. I had two lots of antibiotics via iv for two weeks. Since then I’ve nebulised colomycin twice a day. This was over five years ago and I’ve only had one infection since. Pseudomonas makes you feel awful and the constant antibiotics make it worse so I understand how you feel. Cipro has some pretty awful side effects so maybe your consultant could try a different iv. I don’t know how it works in the US but I do the ivs myself at home.

I am also immune compromised and have to have Gammagobulin infusions monthly life long (white blood) to boost my system. I go tomorrow for2 hrs once a month. As for iv drugs .. i do them at home too like you. They so far could not get the Collestin (sp) approved by medicare and wanted me to do Tobrymysinc first and so far could not tolerate it. Now i dont know what they willl do when the oral 500mg Cipro runs out this week.

I remember you saying that before now. My understanding is you need to hit the pseudomonas hard and then the nebulised antibiotics will keep it at bay. I’m sorry you can’t get colomycin. I hope you get something to help you out when you finish the cipro.
